Discuss: “Lost” - Is Australia the Key?

So on this week’s Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack, a phone call in the “Listener Feedback” section recalled the RISK game that Hurley, Locke and Sawyer played in “The Shape of Things to Come.”  During that game, before we even see the board, Hurley says, “Australia is the key.”

So here’s this week’s LOST Discussion: Is Australia the key to ’solving’ Lost?  How?

Leave your best theories and comments here for discussion.

My Journey to Fatherhood: Michael David

Two years ago around this time my wife gave me the most incredible news of my life, that she was pregnant and after nine years of marriage we would be expanding our family. I had spent the first nine years of marriage trying to talk my wife out of wanting kids. I would argue with her that our lives were perfect and we would lose all of our freedom. We were fortunate enough to be able to travel at the drop of a hat and experience the world but little did I know what experiencing the world truly meant.

During the pregnancy my wife was incredibly fortunate and had no complications or morning sickness. It was a very easy pregnancy by some standards, for which…

School Zones…a Rant: Jeff W

Pretty much everywhere in the U.S., it’s that time of year. Depending on where you live, school is either starting, has started, or will be starting soon. This means that school zones are now in effect around the schools. Now don’t let the title of this article scare you. You might think I’m ranting about the school zones themselves but in actuality, I’m ranting about those drivers who choose to ignore the school zone signs. I say ignore since, at least here in Texas, pretty much all of the school zone signs have flashing lights on them that are pretty hard to miss. You also might think that the majority of folks who ignore the school zone signs would be…

Catch ‘Monk’ Before It’s Gone: Michael David

Monk (USA Network) is now entering its final season and to me it is one of the most underrated shows of this generation . For those who don’t know, Monk is a show about a former San Francisco police detective whose wife was killed and he reverted into a catatonic state after her death. With the help of his nurse Sharona, he started freelancing with the SFPD again but has extreme OCD. I realize Tony Shaloub has received plenty of Emmy nods but the show itself was at the forefront of the cable revolution. Long before Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Closer, Monk elevated the quality of basic cable programming to a whole new level. For eight seasons the show has not lacked in quality and continues to…

Sean @ Comic Con Friday: Sean Olsen

So when we last left the story, I have had two great days of Comic Con and that was even before I hit Friday and Saturday, the two busiest days of the Con. And Friday would be the day I would finally check out the famous Hall H.

So Friday morning, I wake up, grab my things and meet up with John, Matt, Katie and Steve. We head off to the line for Hall H. It was actually not that bad, but Steve got a hold of one of the TRS guys and we got in line with them.  While we were waiting in line with met up with the two folks from geeks of doom and then Peter from /film. So…

There’s a great loss today in America with the passing of Teddy Kennedy. I’m old enough to remember Teddy as the younest brother of the president, John Kennedy, and then the surviving son of Joesph Kennedy after the death of Bobby Kennedy.  Teddy not only stepped in to be a father figure to the children of his brothers, but to become an imposing figure in the Senate to become known as a senate who was a leader for all.  To me, his greatest cause was for quality health care for all, and it is sad that after all these years, America still can’t come to realize his dream that was a dream for all.
He did have personal tragedies and dramas,…

Discussion: Senator Ted Kennedy Dies

U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy died late Tuesday night at age 77.  He had been fighting a brain tumor.  Kennedy was the brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert Kennedy.  Plagued by scandal, controversy, and tragedy, Kenndey’s impressive political career spanned 50 years.  Most recently, he was heavily advocating for the Senate to reform health care.

Blackest Night: Steven “Grundy” Murphy

Zombies are hot. For whatever reason, every scary movie out of Hollywood has a distinct desire for brains. Which begs the question, what is the only thing better than zombies? Superpowered zombies, of course. The undead now walk in our funny books. This is an introduction to DC’s Blackest Night.

Blackest Night is a DC-wide crisis that spiraled out of the Green Lantern books. Green Lanterns are basically space cops who all sport a green ring limited only by the ringslinger’s willpower. Recent events have pitted the Green Lantern against a rainbow coalition of other Lanterns–Red powered be rage, Yellow powered by fear, Orange powered by greed, Blue powered by hope, Indigo powered by compassion, and Violet powered by love. Yes, I’m getting…
