I am a Trustee for WKA and had been working with James Riley for a few years to see if the California Browncoats would consider Waterkeeper Alliance as their charity to support at Comic-COn. James is THE most helpful, enthusiastic, generous person when it comes to supporting great causes. Mathan and so many others from Firefly, particularly Jewel and Morena, have really helped us introduce Waterkeeper Alliance to a younger, motivateted, thoughtful, interested and interesting group of people. Nathan skied for us in our Celebrity Sports Invitational a few years ago, played poker against Alec Baldwin, Alyson Hannigan, Joe Pantileon and a few others for us (Alicia Silverstone beat him out... but it's the thought that counts) and has been open to other ways in which to promote the work of the 200 Waterkeepers around the world. The Joss Whedon family of actors, be it from Firefly, Buffy, Angel or Dollhouse have made such a difference for us. We are so grateful to have their support. We were thrilled to be the chosen charity at the Sc Cal Brownscoasts booth this year!! You Browncoats are amazing. You make things happen. You are the best examples of using fandom to create something bigger than just the great fun and commraderie of supporting a show and it's createive team. I think that's why the actors and Joss and all the other creative forces that made Firefly/Serenity support your group so much each year. You are always doing the impossible and making it look fun and easy. COngratulations on an amazing Comic-Con. I'm forever your fan.
