So I am back and starting to get back into my normal work schedule, so I figured I have some extra time today to start writing about my adventure. So here we go…

First off, I travel by standby, we get deals on flying through work, and I have to say that this time was something I will not forget. I can’t really complain, it comes with the whole standby thing. So anyways, I arrived at the Milwaukee airport early Monday morning, got on the first flight out of Milwaukee to Denver, so things were looking good. Well that is when it went all wrong, I ended up being bumped 5 times before I finally got a seat, and I landed in sunny California around 7pm local time. It was a long day of being stuck in the Denver airport. And a huge thanks to my uncle Dave for helping me out and picking me up from the airport.

Tuesday was basically a day of sitting around and getting a lot of sleep, due to the fact I knew i wouldn’t be getting a lot of sleep once comic con started. I also watched some of the State DVD that I had brought along to watch.

Wednesday, was the day that the Comic Con fun officially began, but first off, I had to get my rental car. So Dave dropped me off at the rental place, I get in and find out that my car isn’t there yet. Can anyone say Seinfeld. So I end up waiting for a few hours to for my car to finally show up. Luckily I had my iPhone and some podcasts to keep me occupied. I ended up getting a free day of rental and no longer needed to fill the tank before I drop off my car at the rental place. So, not bad. So I headed back to Dave’s, and got a few more hours of sleep until I headed down to downtown San Diego for Comic Con preview night. It took about a half hour for me to finally get my badge and then I found John and Matt from the TRS forums. We waited about an hour or so, and then they finally opened the doors and we all rushed into the exhibit hall. We walked through the exhibit hall and picked up a few items, some spent more than others (you know who you are). Well we walked around the floor until it was time to head off to the /film meet-up. Which at first was kind of awkward, at least for us. We didn’t know anyone and we just kind of kept to ourslelves. The guys from TRS showed up and then things really got fun. First off, the TRS guys are really cool and down to earth, I was a little nervous at first, but after awhile it was like talking to friends. We then meet some of the /film guys, who were also very cool. But then we looked to our left and there was Stan Lee sitting in a chair. Holy cow! Stan “the man” was sitting there talking over some business and we were all just standing their looking and getting really nervous. Finally Matt got the nerves to go over and got his picture taken, the picture was kind of fuzzy, but there was a glow around Stan, which we figured is just the normal glow of Stan. So let’s just say Matt was on cloud nine for the rest of the night and week. He is forever known as they guy who met Stan Lee, our very own running gag. But wait there is more, while were talking to Peter from /film, Matt noticed one of the guys from Derrick Comedy and Peter introduced us, and we talked to them for a bit, found out they were doing a screening of their film “mystery team”. So they told us they would get us some passes. Wow, this night was awesome, and it was only the preview night. But wait, there’s more, we also got to meet Kevin Eastman, one of the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Turtle power in the house. One thing I would like to add, meeting all of these cool people, more of them seemed to be more excited to meet us, this is the vibe at Comic Con. So that was the best night of Comic Con ever, met some very cool people, some new friends, and I was wondering what the next few days were going to be like, would it live up to the Preview Night.

So that was part one of the Comic Con fun, part two will be up soon….

Very jealous. I hope next year I can meet the /Film and TRS guys. I know I could totally get along with them.
