For Discussion: ‘LOST’ Season 6 Theories
Editor’s Note: Everything in this article is pure speculation based on what’s already out there in “Lost” canon, including Comic-Con 2009 revelations. It is non-spoilerish.
I have been thinking about this a lot and came up with some ideas a few weeks ago. Here it goes:
I think that the explosion from the finale has in fact created an alternate time line. Dharma may have never come back after the explosion. The hatch may never have been built. Next season we will see the important people still make it to the island but for different reasons. In other words, the universe will course correct. Like Hurley visiting his Chicken Shacks in Australia and Kate being arrested for the murder of her step fathers assistant instead of her stepfather. The characters we know will be different people since major events in their lives will have changed. Hurley for one will be more confident and feel less guilty. I think this is what Jacob meant when he said “It only ends once, everything else is progress.” In fact, it is very possible that this has happened over and over again and there is a time loop on the island. The compass hinted towards this. Who knows, maybe the rumors we heard about the initial pilots script will come into light. Maybe Jack dies and Sawyer is the Wall Street exec instead of the street con man.
I also think that we are going to get a new form of storytelling instead of the standard flashbacks and flashforwards. I think we are going to get flashbacks from the new timeline that fill us in on how that huge change of events (big rock in the pond) has created the new personalities we will see with the characters. I also think we have already seen this happen. The flashbacks from the finale with Jacob, I think, were our first glimpse at this. I think these events are what lead them to the island in the new timeline. Kate when she was little, Sawyer when his parents died, etc. In Sayid’s flashback we see him with Nadia. It is possible he married her early on and didn’t go through the military life and isn’t tortured by his past. She gets hit by the car and says “Take me home.” This could be what makes him board the plane.
One last thought: the first crash happened in 2004. The writers leaped ahead to 2007 with Ajira. Will the 3rd crash happen in 2010? This would fit with the Oceanic commercial we saw at Comic-Con. I think the writers will do this to avoid the whole “everything up until now means nothing and it all is going to start over” feeling if Jack wakes up in 2004 and they rewrite everything from Day One.
Tell me what you think and feel free to discuss.

Great post. That would be a very interesting turn of events. One that I wouldn’t mind seeing. It’s a lot better than the whole plane never crashed/ it was all a dream sequence theory.
I’m not entirely sure how any resetting would work, cause wouldn’t that create a Time Paradox, wouldn’t Faraday always have to travel back in time, so that his mom would shoot him, wouldn’t the Losties future selves have to somehow travel back in time, and create an end to the Dharma people, it’s one of those really weird time travelling theories that makes you scratch your head, and wonder how the past could happen if the future is changed cause people couldn’t travel back in time to change the past.
There’s so much to think about @ this point. I think going back to the island would be redundant. There’s so much unfinished businesses that I’ve laid down before and the more I think of a conclusion the more unfinished things I see like Adam and Eve and their little pebbles and what will become of Ben. It seemed like the losties were setting things in order to be the way they should be by bringing Ben to the other’s after he was shot. But now if things are different what will the world be like without all of his schemes. And what is the drive behind his scheming. It was never clear. Will Jacob not be killed by Ben if all of the events don’t come together?and if he is what loophole will “Esau” use. Jacob seemed to accept it as is all was meant to be. But are things meant to be? After all last season jack seemed to think it was his place in the grand design to alter destiny. Ow now my head hurts.
This is an interesting theory, but is it enough???
I have recently watched The Prisoner, and Carlton’s comments about interpreting the finale concerned me. In the Prisoner, there was an interesting setup - a mystery where the solution was constantly hinted at, but never came completely into focus, the story then went surreal with the bizarre Cowboy/Cricket episodes before the infuriating and baffling conclusion that could never be satisfactorily explained and I am concerned this will be the way of Lost.
I know there has always been talk of the end being known, but the alternative time line theory, if it is correct, would only rank alongside ‘it was aliens’, or ‘it was a dream’ and wouldn’t be a good enough piece of story-telling that I have been lead to believe I should expect and could only serve as a distraction from all the story threads that remain incomplete. I need something so mind blowing, so unexpected and different that it shouldn’t be something we can work out way in advance of a single shot being filmed, it should make me feel justified that I have been in this for the long haul, but I also need the major story arc that has been developed over 5 seasons to be completed in a sound and logical way - a season of what you describer without wrapping up the previous story would depress me beyond comprehension.
In summary, no singing monkeys, no Radiohead go experimental, no Matrix Revolutions and no f***ing Jar-Jar - this cannot be another disappointment on that scale - this needs to be BIG!!!!
Hey guys. Great comments! As the author of this post I have to say I appreciate all of your input!
@Brian: I get what you’re saying. That could be a problem but it can also be viewed differently. I thought of it more like them being in an alternate time line as soon as they arrived in the 70’s. In other words, they left there “universe” when traveling back and were now a part of the new one…many little parts after the finale that is
@Shannon: Well this could have been Jacob’s loophole for the loophole if that makes any sense
As far as Adam and Eve go I have to say following the “loop in time” line of thought they could be (Jay enter drum roll here) Rose and Bernard. If in fact every time the loop occurs the series of events slightly change for the better. The “…everything else is progress” statement supports this. So the previous iteration may have also seen R&B traveling back to the 70’s and living out there lives on the island. Now Ben (one of my favorites BTW) I think will prove to have been a tool. He was very malleable as an unloved child and needed to fit in. Kind of like pre-island Locke…and like Locke he was a means to an end. He never even saw Jacob. Alpert acted as a communicator between the two…or did he?
Um, Steve? What’s your problem with Radiohead?
@Steve: Now after everything you read in this article I have to say this is simply a guess as to how they will format Season 6’s storytelling. I don’t pretend to have a clue as to what the “ending” will be. BIG EXAMPLE: the first half of Jacobs quote is “It only ends once…”. WTF does “end” mean?!? Is this all just a game between two forces like Jacob and Esau? Is that why Jacob didn’t seem very bothered by “dying” with Ben’s betrayal? I have no clue. But next year at this time we all will! (WOW…that both rocks and sucks at the same time) I think the time travel/ alternate reality stuff will be supplementary to what is really important.
I was thinking the same thing about the alternate time line, what if they are all going to Australia for new reasons and the plane crashes again. At first they don’t remember the island but start feeling deja vu and then they gradually start remembering the past. What do they do? What choices will they make now?
Good points about the new future changing the past, if the Island doesn’t skip in time how does their absence effect the Island’s present? What happened to Jughead? If Ben doesn’t get shot, how does that effect his future, what about Horace’s baby Ethan? Does he even get born without Juliet there to deliver him?
Does LA X - mean the same as Oceanic 6? Are we following 10 people in LA? Didn’t Damon and Carlton say it would be a lot of running around the island?
Anyone who listened to the dharmalars will have heard Ralph’s theory that Further instructions was a secret flash forward, my prediction is that it is an alternate timeline which explains the flaw of Ralph’s theory, which is Locke’s hair
I know some people might be upset with an alternate timeline, but I think it makes sense and is a possible avenue they could take. Damn Darlton for leaving so many possible solutions!!!
I know that the alternate reality timeline is the favored theory around these parts, but I really don’t know. I think that they’re trying to prep us for the time line being reset completely or the “time loop” theory that’s mentioned (a la Horace building the cabin in “Cabin Fever”). I don’t know, I’m worried that having two realities would be too confusing if it went on for longer than like one episode.
I doubt Jack will die at the beginning. There still has to be a rsolution on who will get Kate, Sawyer or Jack. Plus Jack is one of the crucial characters in the show. I’m not so sure the characters are going to change either. Kate is still going to feel guilty for thinking that she killed her father. I’m still baffled on Hurley has
good luck and why kates fate really hasn’t changed except for the fact that it wasn’t her father who died. I’m withth you on your theory of an alternative timeline and the universe corse correcting itself though.
Chris In Miami - First off, great post. Second off, great name. Bravo, your parents were wicked fahkin’ smaht. Too bad you guys don’t have a pro sports team worth a lick in Miami. No, you can’t put a claim on the D-Rays. Nobody ever liked them before they made it to the World Series, not even their own mothers.
Anyways, I digress. I totally dig your theory. It does have one tragic flaw in my opinion. They could never take your story idea (which totally rocks) and cram that shit into one last, shortened television season.
Regardless, I like where your going with this. I too think the alternate timeline scenario will unfold. We’ll get a glimpse at the “what if this whole thing never went down” life stories of our beloved cast, as alluded to in the Comic-Con videos. These same peeps, through course-correcting circumstances will all be brought back together to embark on the journey to our favorite “in need of an all-inclusive tiki-bar” island.
Why are they to go back to the island? They’re going back because they (which person or persons, not sure yet) never accomplished what they were intended to do. Maybe the course-correction of the island started taking place well before we thought. Maybe the our losties’ plan of exhuming and detonating the H-Bomb was a plan that was put in place by the island way back when. In other words, what if the bomb going KaBoom was the island’s way of hitting start and reloading that save point from back in an earlier season, but it took a few seasons for that plan to unfold?
I just pulled all of that straight out of my Beantown butt, but it actually started to make sense to me as I was typing it. I’m still left with a question though. Do these timelines mesh together? When these losties return, do they assume the prior knowledge of of the previous seasons? HOLY SHIT! are they the voices in the woods? HOLY SHIT!!!!!!! Are the voices of the losties from seasons 1-5 the voices in the woods? Can’t decide! Can’t decide! BRAIN ANEURYSM!!!!
Anyways, fellow Lost fans. Chew on that shit for a while.
ChrisInBoston
Ps. Way to contribute to the conversation, Robin.
ummm what Chris in Boston said.
Chris in Boston, I always wondered about the whispers, problem is they feel like a voice over instead of actually being close by, almost if they are watching from somewhere else and commenting on it.
Carol - yeah…like from a paralell timeline/universe?
Chris in Boston - maybe that is why the whispers are backwards? Maybe Walt was also appearing from the paralell universe? The backwards talking has to be an important plot point, it is more than a Easter Egg.
I’m also from Boston, Go Sox!! They actually won tonight. One of my favorite Lost moments, Jack seeing the Team celebrate after winning the series. I will watch that celebration anytime, anywhere. Still makes me delirously happy.
Chris Dude! Many apologies for digging on your theory, that was a whisky driven rant about life’s woes at the end of a long day in the UK rather than an attack on you! Thanks for starting the debatec, your theory totally makes sense and I would agree this seems to be where things, I guess that is why it struck a chord.
Happy to debate the merits of Amnesiac/ Kid A/The Matrix & Jar Jar with anyone on Twitter/blueshadesolo
1st I am from Louisiana but A hugh Sox fan since I was a boy. Damn the Mets of 86 you know what I maen Chris. I named my son Boston after the greatest city in our great country GO SOX. Well now to the greatest show on TV LOST. Here is a alternate time line idea for you. Now follow me with this. All the LOSTIES from the 70’s where never supposed to be on the Plane. Jack had to beg to get on the Plane with his Dad’s body, Kate was only on because she got caught, Sawyer got deported for doing something, Sayid was going to leave earlier but was stopped by the FBI to help in the plan to stop his friend, Hurley had to beg at the last mintue to get on the plane and pay for two seats, Jin was a last mintue plan also because Sun wanted to go. Thats why Sun went to 2007 because she was going to get on the flight to get away from Jin, and I know John didnt goto the 70’s but he was there for a while so John was supposed be on a Walk about but got since back early. So I believe everyone that wasnt in the 1977 when the bomb blow never got on the plane and 815 lands find in LAX but the 1977 people all took a different flight and crashed on the island later its was their destiny to be on the island not the other passengers of 815. SO 815 lands they are all fine. I know its a lot to take in but I feel this is where they might be going. Let me know your thoughts
Chris in Miami, not a bad post, however, I have a lot of issues with it. First of all, Hurley nevr says he opened any Mr. Cluck’s in Australia. In the ComicCon commercial, he says he visited Australia and “had a dream . . . A dream of chicken.”. He took that inspiration back home with him to America.
Also, Kate killed her father, not her stepfather in “What Kate Did.” I haven’t watched the ‘America’s Most Wanted’ clip since ComicCon but if John Walsh (?) refers to Wayne Jannsen as her stepfather, it’s because no one but Sam, Diane and Kate knew the truth. Of course, it’s possible that a reset/new timeline could alter Kate’s lineage but I find that coupled with her not killing Wayne but one of his employees to be too much change for us to swallow.
“The flashbacks from the finale with Jacob, I think, were our first glimpse at this.” No, no, no. I admit that I don’t like the time loop/AR theories but I appreciate them. However, this one makes no sense. Time loops follow the same series of events repeatedly. Your suggestion that Jacob’s visits with the Losties is part of this new timeline makes no sense. If there is a reset and a new timeline, Jacob’s meetings with the Losties are what leads to the Incident which, in turn, leads to the alternate timeline, NOT the other way around.
Finally, I think it’s dismissive to say, “The writers leaped ahead to 2007 with Ajira.”. The S3 finale and ALL of S4 showed us what happened in the 2+ years after the O6 left the island and the first 6 eps of S5 showed what happened in that time on the island (plus more off-island stuff). S6E1 is titled ‘LA X’ and that may mean S6 will take place in 2010 but if the time travel is ovr, as Lindelcuse hasve stated, how do you fit 3 years into 18 hours of storytelling?
MY THEORY: a) Not evrything shown at CC will be canon and b) I THINK ANY ALTERNATE TIMELINE WILL BE LIMITED TO THE SEASON PREMIERE. Just like Desmond in ‘FBYE,’ I think each main character will experience how their life could have been different (some better, some worse) in that 2-hour premiere, yet ultimately find themselves back on the island with a new resolve to fight for or against the island/Jacob. OR, EVEN BETTER (and I just thought of this) each episode will center on a character (as they always have) but not through FBs or FFs but what they saw in that alternate reality. Back on the island, we see what they do with that knowledge and the decisions they make even in some cases before we see their AR-centric episode. Wow, I really like this idea.
FINALLY (for real this time), I want to remind evryone that, above all else, ‘LOST’ IS A CHARACTER-DRIVEN SHOW. I believe that the characters’ stories will trump the island’s mysteries in the final season when push comes to shove in the writer’s room. Not evry mystery will be answered (even some of the bigger ones) but I would be dumbfounded if any of the main characters’ stories aren’t resolved satisfactorily.
@ChrisinBoston Sorry, was I supposed to mention something about the Sox?
@Steve If you believe that those albums are anything less than awesome, there is no reason to debate. You are just wrong and can enjoy living in Wrongworld, throwing out more wrong opinions til you’re blueshadesolo in the face.
@Everyone I just don’t understand how the plane landing in LAX could change things like “what Kate did”. I can see why Hurley’s future would change, because that stuff happens when he gets BACK from Australia. I guess you could say that the reason why entire back stories are altered is because of Jacob’s murder *spoiler alert*, coupled with the bomb going off, that makes it so Jacob never touches them. But they need to make sure to explain how that works to me.
Also, I’ve always been a fan of the whispers being the actual Losties talking from “another place”. I thought they were going to incorporate that when everyone was jumping around in time last season, like when Sawyer was watching Kate help Claire give birth to Turniphead. But the thing is, Dark UFO has broken those whispers down and actually transcribed them. So if they were to make that work, I hope they use some of those transcripts in conversations between the Losties.
And I’ll keep saying it: flashback, flashforward, alternate timelines, different dimensions…Desmond is the key to all of this. He’s the only one who has “leapt” between these. I am hoping Desmond will play a major role in setting everything right. I hope it comes soon, too. If they spend six episodes in LA, trying to remember the Island, we might as well have stuck them in cages. Boooorrrring.
I think in the alternate timeline the Red Sox don’t cheat their way to a WS by having a roster full of roiders.
I don’t know y i haven’t read this anywhere, but can we all agree that the bomb did go off and THAT is why the statue is only a foot in 2004-2007? It just seems the only logical way for the statue to be gone. So to me that means that the explosion ALWAYS happened and therefore doesn’t change much if anything. I hope they show the explosion.
Does everyone else assume the bomb cause jacob to be living in a foot instead of a full statue?
Michael - Seriously dude? Do you even watch baseball?
Personally I like the theory that the plane lands in 2010 but that some how the important characters find their way back. I think Desmond will play a role in fixing the timeline, just like Eloise did with him when he tried to change the past.
@ChrisinBoston yes I do. Manny and Ortiz, last I checked carried that team offensively. Surprisingly they did not end up in The Mitchell Report which of course was put together by a Red Sox supporter and member of their board. Also it was slightly sarcastic because so many people cheated but as usual “The Nation” takes it to heart.
Michael- if you watched that world series you would know that the Cardinals never even showed up to play, they were horrible and it was an easy win. As for the their wins vs. the Yankees, they earned every one the hard way.
re:the plane landing in 2010 - how does it jump ahead 3 years to land as it was only 2007 on the island?
First off loving the debate going on, I can tell many of you here are now masters of the art. I know that in the past Darlton said that the ARG’s were not cannon BUT there is something that people are kinda leaving out of the bigger picture. Mentioned in a previous YuBlog post http://yublog.org/2009/08/17/discussion-what-else-have-damon-carlton-told-us/ was what else have they told us with out us knowing … The previously released the Lost Video Game for NextGen consoles. The game starts just like the series with the Losties crashing on the Island fast forward to the end of the game
** Video Game Spoiler Alert **
The main character gets on a boat and as he is sailing away from the island looks up to see the plane break apart again crashing on the island, only to wake up again on the day of the crash (same as the start of the game) only to be confronted by a character who had died before the events of the game (as told via flashbacks)
** Spoiler over **
I think that the game has a lot more weight then the ARG in that they needed to produce stories etc for it that intertwined with what people already knew about our Losties. Could this be their set up for the final season? I think this works into a lot of the theories mentioned above … alternative reality, still back on the island. Think about it … That’s all I have for now just wanted to but in my 2 cents.
I believe it will reset to current time and everyone will end up on the flight for different reasons. Since the island has moved it doesn’t have to be Sydney to LA it could be anywhere. I believe it was Jack on The LP that had the theory that the Jack/Kate crew would flash off the plane onto the island. Of course I could be completely wrong.
Cardinals were a barely over .500 team that was hot at the right time but could not compete with a much better team. It was just a good natured poke at Sox fans who are little too uptight about their team.
Not that this is the venue, but when did David Ortiz do steroids?
Yes Manny was caught this year doing steroids while with the dodgers, but did not test positive in 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, or 08.
Anywho. Lost rules.
Damon and Carlton have said that the ARG’s are seperate and the series will not be dependent on them because there are many people (such as myself) that never played them.
Is the show coming back in Jan or Feb this year? I cannot believe we have to wait so long. I really wish they had contracted for a full 24 episodes for this year.
Anybody have any ideas of why some cast members have been asked back but others haven’t? Why Boone, and Charlie, Juliet and (maybe) Eko, but not Shannon, Walt, Michael etc? They all have other shows so with only being in a few episodes how do they fit in?
Also, check out “Watch with Kristen” on eonline, there are some clues about Sawyer for next season. Let’s just say he isn’t in a good mood.
Other thought M Fox is supposed to know how it all ends and even though D and C say no one is safe am I naïve in assuming he is? Or BSG possible soiler will it be a starbuck thing?
I think that Jack is the hero and will sacrifice himself to save either the island or Kate or his friends. I would hate to see him die but I wouldn’t put it past the writers to kill him off. Jack clearly has no life outside the island. The island seems to bring out the best in him. Maybe Jack becomes the new Jacob and the keeper of the island? I am still trying to figure out where Christian fits into this, when was he on the island and what are his ties to it? Christian, like Jack, was a mess off the island.
Btw I’m in Tucson but my dad and his family are all red sox fans. So if I don’t identify myself as a red sox fan they will disown me. Lost rules go sox!
I just don’t think there is enough time (with only one season left), to introduce an entirely new story arc, and wrap up the series.
Excited to see what happens though. I hope Locke is somehow alive.
Max, I totally agree with you.
@ChrisInBoston
Thanks for the support CiB! You always have good ideas. As far as my name goes it just rang a bell. Can’t remember where I could have heard anything similar
And the Dolphins look to be an up and coming team. Not to say we’re SB bound but they are definitely heading in the right direction. The Heat look pretty good as well. I’m a huge Lakers fan tho. I went to games 3 and 5 in Orlando. It was AWESOME! I really like the idea of the Losties voices “bleeding” into this reality. It kind of goes with another theory of mine regarding Locke and his ability to walk. The island is a sort of nexus for these time lines and all exist simultaneously and influence one another in different ways. In Locke’s case, he may be able to walk in the new and/or past time lines and therefore, on the island, able to walk in all of them.
@Carol
After reading Chris’ post I was thinking the same exact thing about Walt! Another thing we agree on is Jack being the hero that sacrifices himself. Maybe we will see this in the pilot and Sawyer becomes the leader…
@Michael
It is very true that we don’t have to see 815 crash again. In fact if it is 2010 when they arrive the island will be in a different location and it couldn’t be the same flight.
@Steve I didn’t take any of your comments as being negative! Do I detect a little Hurley guilt?!?
@Everyone
Many of the comments keep mentioning they are “going back” to the island. This misses the point. They aren’t going back because these versions of them have never been there before!
Another point, the whole story does not have to be retold. If they land in 2010 that means circumstances are dif as well. We can easily fit in the new backstories AND tell the story of a new time line simultaneously. We won’t need to revisit discovering the hatch, most of the Dharma stuff, etc. Remember they are going to the island for the first time. For all we know they meet Jacob day one.
@Chris in Miami, the good news is if it is 2010 then Walt can come back, no problems with his aging. I think you are on the right track with some of your theories.
The reason I love this show is that anything can happen. At this point we’ll pretty much believe anything, if a plane ride magically takes them to 1977 and we don’t question it, they can pretty much do anything they want.
Damon and Carlton have said that comic-con is shows a tease of the direction of the new season so if all the promos they showed a different present, we have to believe an alternate timeline has taken place, whether it is an alternate reality or parallel universe, who knows.
Sorry if this post is all over the place, too many thoughts running through my head. You are all very convincing with your theories.
I think 2010 is the most feasable outcome if Walt is in anyway important to the show. Otherwise it would just be too dificult to cover his age. Instead of a plane crashing what if Kate, Jack, Hurley…etc are recruited by a new Dharma to regain control of the island. Arriving there in 2010 they would possibly end up at war with the Ajira crew, Ben, RA and the gang, who have been there since 2007. Still I think the first scene will be Richard arriving via The Black Rock with his dog Vincent.
@carol
“Jack clearly has no life outside the island. The island seems to bring out the best in him”
Couldn’t you say that of all the Losties? I mean some have ties that are well developed and are decent off-island like Hurley, but even he was able to develop into a better more confident man on the island. I wonder what some one like Alpert was like pre-island, unless he is of the island, though I doubt that given Ben’s line to him “You remember birthdays don’t you?”
also @chris and @michael both of you have really good theories, but now my head is starting to hurt again…Lost really is my favorite drug.
@Michael Really cool ideas regarding Walt and a new Dharma initiative! At first the whole 2010 thing was just a “side note” of an idea but I’m leaning more towards it with all of these great posts!
@Shannon Thanks for the support! I agree that most of the Losties have a potential that we see start to be realized on the island. Like I said previously about Locke’s ability to walk they can be acting like their alternate counterparts when on island.
Just a little background on this “nexus” idea. There is a belief that our lifeline (birth, death, and everything in between) exists simultaneously. In other words, we are all that we have and will be at all times. Past, present, future. This is fundamental in Buddhism. The duality of existence. I just found this page of a book that can kind of explain what I mean. I’m sure there are better examples but this is the best I can find with a quick Google search.
The first paragraph sums it up well. http://bit.ly/tjJxM
@shannon - good point re: the losties all being better people on the island. I guess what I mean is that Jack takes a leadership role, and as that leader he would sacrifice himself for all of them. Though at this point they would probably all risk themselves to save the others. The problem for me is that I don’t want anybody to die. Lost isn’t a happy ending type of show, I have a feeling the ending will be somewhat open-ended so we all have to speculate for years.
@Chris in miami I like the nexus thing and I get the concept. When I ponder things like that my mind always goes back to one of my favorite books that is related to lost: slaughterhouse 5. Where the aliens from tralfamador (sp?) see everything through time as it has been and will be. And it’s all seen together @ once I love the way the book describes how they see stars as glowing strands through space rather than twinkling dots. What is an unfortunate thought though especially related to lost is that the aliens have also seen when the universe blows up because one of them pushes the wrong button and they can’t stop him because he’s “always pushing it” and”so it goes”. It’s a good book and the concepts are a little trippy but it really fits lost in a lot of ways. I should re-read it. And anyone who hasn’t should give it a try.
@Michael - I like your idea of Richard arriving on the Black Rock. I don’t think Vincent would be with him though, as he would predate Ben of Hyde by over 55 years.
I also like the idea of R A rowing to shore from the Back Rock and Jacob greeting him on the beach with Vincent by his side. I realize Vincent probably is not that important but I can always hope.
@max and @michael well there is always dog years and if Vincent can be unstuck in time it would be pretty cool
Vincent was in Australia with Walt and came over on the plane. How did Walt find him? Was he a stray?
Wow! I was thinking the exact same things… Everything that you wrote about seems just like the conversations I’ve had with my friends. I think you hit it right on the head. I can’t wait to see if this is how it all unfolds.
Saw “Special” on Syfy channel last night, Vincent was Walt’s stepdad’s dog. Also a fun Easter egg, Walt was complaining about his homework and having to study Australian birds, he wanted to study bird of Egypt because they are cooler. So an Egypt reference in season 1.
I have some interesting theories that I have not even seen mentioned on this page. first off, I think Jack and the rest of the of the darma losties in the past will land at lax with it being like they never crashed. However, they will also exist on the island and basically be two people like Lock and Christian both who died, left bodies and are alive existing twice in one time line. Also the darma losties Will return to Locks time due to the explosion before Jacob is killed and reconnect with the rest of their people like lock did when he had jacob tell him he was supposed to die. That may effect the end story line of Jacob being killed. And the darma losties destroyed A POCKET of energy. Who is to say that there aren’t more? I don’t think the darma people die there. They just continue the expiraments and find a second pocket which results in the hatch getting built anyway. The destruction of the first pocket of energy will be the reason that women can’t have babies on the island. I do agree with what I heard one person on this page said and that Richard is the one on the Black Rock. I think Richard is like Lock and Christin Being that he was also two people in one time line even though he may not realize it. That may explain why he doesn’t age and maybe Lock and Christin are the same way and will not age. As far as Jacob visiting the losties in the past at crossroads in their lives I think it like on of the people on this page said that all the losties are on the island for a reason. If Jacob had not given James the pen to finish the letter he was writing, then he may not have had the drive for revenge that he had. Kate may have become a true criminal and would have never had a chance to run and have a second chance at life if Jacob had not told her to quit stealing. I believe Jacob wants the losties to stay on the island because they are what he was looking for when he was talking to the nameless man in the begining of The Incident. They are the people that would not destroy the island or themselves.
These are just a few thoughts that came to mind. I have watched all the seasons forward and backward and just random episodes trying to piece together what might happen. If I discover any more theories I will post them. None of my friends have watched past the first half of season 2 so I really can’t talk to them on this. Let me end by saying great show. I don’t know what I will watch when it goes off the air. One more thing PLEASE GIVE US A FULL SEASON PLEASE! Thanks for listening.
don’t you get it, you can’t change the past, what happened happened, the movie in season 2 in the swan said there was an incident, and that was it, jack blow’s up the hydrogen boom, which made Desmond push the button , and then crash’s there plane, and so on and on and on, until season 6 starts, every thing had happened in the past, we just didn’t see it, until season 5, that’s it, so no theory in going to solve what is going to happen in season 6, unless we watch it for real.
Do you really want to see the characters you’ve watched and known all of there past for six years, just to see season 6 with 18 episodes in another past. I think the whole idea of season 1 and 2 and 3 to know the characters of the show really will and to bond with them like no other show have done.
thank you…
Ever since Juliet cried “come on you son of a bi*ch!” ive been thinking alot about whats next and like alot of other people I reckon the alternative timeline is a really good shout. But ive got my own spin on it. Get with me now . . . I reckon that there will be two different versions of the losties at around the same time as where unlocke, richard and LAPIDIS are the ones back in 77 will be flashed there to meet up with everyone. (yay jin and sun) the other reality would see everyone living life to its fullest because their plane does land. however because of the events in 77 they will both have ‘memories’ of each other and the fight for the sole occupier of the name jack sheppard etc is on. This is what I think they mean by the war coming. They have to fight themselves! maybe not physically but yeh i dunno. As gay as it sounds the writers are geniuses and they made time travel seem cool and fresh so why not this in some way? Would have a new turn on flashbacks/flashforwards because it will be two sets of stories intertwined.
Still with me? Ive also got a theory linked with this about Desmond. Theres alot about him still being special or the key and even though im not as fond as i was of him when he said brother every 3 words, id love for him to play a major role. If the plane never crashes and if the hatch was never built he would possibly still end up on the island meaning he was only one person?
I dunno alot of thoughts and stuff
@Andre,
Just a suggestion: refer to a thesaurus for a more appropriate adjective than “gay” when posting in a public forum. But I digress.
I like your theory of the time traveling Losties having memories of each other after getting flashed to the present. (There was an episode of the X-Files like that, when Agent Mulder used memories of an alternate past to solve a case in the present). I have said before though, that two realities would be way too confusing.
