28 August 2009 16 Comments

There’s an incredible amount of new television series premiering this fall and below you can check out what show you need to be watching on each major network. Don’t say I didn’t tell you!

  • flash_forward_castFlash Forward (ABC) Premieres Thursday, September 24, 2009 8/7c

“A mysterious global event causes everyone to black out simultaneously for two minutes and seventeen seconds, and each person sees a glimpse of their lives six months from now. When they wake up, everyone is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen.”

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to watch this show after reading that synopsis!  (Editor’s note: Or …)

  • the-good-wife-posterThe Good Wife (CBS) Premieres Tuesday, September 22, 2009 10/9c

This show follows Alicia (played by Julianna Marguilies) as she starts her life over after her husband is involved in a sex and political corruption scandal. Alicia goes back into the workforce as a defense attorney after 13 years off the job and through certain events and people, she finds out who she really is and what she has to offer not only for her children but most importantly for herself. From the official show synopsis, “For the first time in years, Alicia trades in her identity as the “good wife” and takes charge of her own destiny.”

If this show doesn’t make you stop and think, I don’t know what will!

  • new_melrose_place_castMelrose Place (The CW) Premieres Tuesday, September 8, 2009 9/8c

Don’t be swayed by The CW’s remake of 90210. This updated version of Melrose Place has potential not only because of the incredibly talented cast, but the incredibly talented executive producers, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmers (Smallville) who carefully planned this series for both old and new Melrose Place viewers. If you have seen a preview of this show already, then you know you are in for a treat, a crazy ride this TV season! Definitely stay tuned for all of the drama that the new Melrose Place will bring.

  • gleeGlee (Fox) Premieres Wednesday, September 9, 2009 9/8c

From Ryan Murphy, the creator of Nip/Tuck comes a one hour musical dramedy following a high school teacher putting together the best glee club that he can to win the Nationals competition. Every glee member is even more interesting than the last, as every main character is even more colorful than the sets for the show (which are colorful)! Jane Lynch steals the show with her incredible one liners that make you laugh out loud every time. Best of all, the cast recorded over 60 covers including “Don’t Stop Believin” from Journey and “Take A Bow” from Rihanna that will be featured in just 13 episodes! There is so much in store for glee, you will definitely want to tune in to this soon to be hit show!

  • trauma_seriesTrauma (NBC) Premieres Monday, September 28, 2009 9/8c

Unlike most medical drama set in a hospital and in the main characters’ homes, you never know where in San Francisco Trauma will take you each week. This action packed drama follows the lives of first responder paramedics on and off the job. The show is executive produced by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and has such a diverse group of actors and characters…with such an amazing cast, plot, and setting…this show looks like it could be great competition for Monday night!

Will you be watching any of these shows?

I’m most excited for Flash Foward and Glee

  • Michael said:

I am definitely interested in Glee and heard terrific things about episode 2. That will be on the Tivo to start the year. I worry about Melrose since it is a remake or reboot. I loved the original series and don’t think that it will be able to live up to it’s crazy standards. I’ve seen some ads for Flash Forward but it just hasn’t grabbed me yet. I’ll probably give it a chance.

I’m definitely going to watch “Flash Forward” and “Glee” and probably will watch the first episode or two of “Melrose Place” because I want to see how awful Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is in it (train wreck alert) but I don’t know if I’ll watch the other 2. “Grey’s Anatomy” was so good when it started and now it sucks so I’m kinda in need of a Time Out from medical shows for now.

I will be watching “V” and probably that “Eastwick” show with Rebecca Romjin for a few episodes too. What else is new that I’m missing? Maybe that family one - “Modern Family,” I think it’s called? Anyone going to try out “Community” with Joel Hale?

Okay, obviously I need to stop yakking and get back to work soooo yeah. Later.

flashforward seems interesting … guess I will down… err … record the pilot for the others

I watched the pilot of Community on facebook and it’s really funny at least in my opinion.

I’ll definitely by watching Flash Forward. I will probably watch Glee and I think I may give Trauma a try. The show that I am most looking forward to is V. That is one of my favorite mini-series ever and it looks like they are going to do a good job with it. Also community looks promising and Day One looks really interesting. And of course I have a bunch of returning shows to watch.

  • Melody said:

I too will be watching V and Eastwick and I also agree, there are so many medical dramas out!

I wasn’t planning on watching Modern Family religiously but I keep hearing more and more good things about this show, I might have to. I can’t say that I will be watching Community but that’s not to say that it won’t be good. It looks good, it just won’t fit in my TV schedule.

Flash Forward looks interesting enough to give it a try. Couldn’t care less about the rest. I will definitely watch V. That show should be first on the list.

  • ChrisMJ said:

I’ve seen Trauma it seems ok, there are just so many medical drama’s coming out, I’m looking at two just sitting on my desk, not counting, Nurse Jackie, HawthoRNe, House, Greys or Private Practice.

  • Jay said:

Wait community is on facebook? (runs to facebook like its a physical place)

Two ones I really look forward to watching is FlashForward and V :)

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

I can’t wait for Flash Forward and V (even if it’s not on the list). I loved the original Melrose Place, but I refuse to watch the new one, because I hate this remake crap. Just leave classics alone. I’m also want to watch Modern Family and Community. Not sure what else I should watch. Oh why oh why can’t it be January.

After reading the book Flash Forward, I’m really interested to see how the show does. It looks interesting. I’m also looking forward to seeing V and seeing how they re-imagine it. I’m hoping that somebody might do a podcast on those shows too.
The other shows…probably not anything I’m going to be keeping up with.

  • Robin said:

I just read it too, Jeff!

  • Richard said:

The THE GOOD WIFE looks like it should be a MOVIE not a TV Show with EPISODES

TRAUMA looks like it might be good.

It’s also Strange that CBS Cancel JERICHO and gets something like THE GOOD WIFE CLUB… I can guarantee that “The Good wife club” will be off before the end of the season.

  • Melody said:

I too was a fan of Jericho and was upset when the show was canceled a second time, that time for good. CBS doe not have the best track record when it comes to keeping good shows…and while I agree that The Good Wife could make a good film, there’s definitely more to tell that would not fit in a 2 hour film.

I’ll be watching FlashForward, Glee, and probably Trauma. Are you watching V or Modern Family?
