I highly doubt it was faked. The Eminem/Bruno thing was admitted to be a hoax not long after the show. Several media outlets have interviewed both Taylor Swift and Kanye, and both seemed pretty sincere about what had happened.

That said, I don’t think MTV did anything to try and prevent it either.

Not faked, she was totally pissed. First she was confused then she was clearly mad. She said at the end that she was told to stand by so they must have told Beyonce that she had won the other award. Why would Kanye kill his career over it? The guy is an idiot.

I saw Taylor Swift act on CSI, she isn’t that good of an actress. If it was faked, someone left her out of the circle. I would normally might think it was faked. But this isn’t the first time that Kanye did this. He went up on stage and took the glory away from a band on the European Awards in ‘06. He is constantly whining that if he didn’t win it was an award it was because he is black. I think he is racist but won’t admit it. And I also think he likes Fish Sticks. ha ha, gotta love South Park.

I agree with Colleen and the author of this fine post. Kayne isn’t losing any of his fanbase over this and those who don’t like him still don’t. If anyone didn’t already know him, they do now and that’s what counts. Only Kanye could have made this believable because of his past attitudes about awards passing him over.

It may be giving Kanye to much credit for this being his idea, however. It is just as likely that Jay-Z came up with it and even more likely that someone at MTV is the mastermind.

I saw the Jay Leno interview with a Kanye who wasn’t his usual talkative self and looked down most of the time, both tells of bluffing. (Poker is my wheelhouse.) I doubt Leno was told about the conspiracy.

I’ve been of the suspicion that it was staged from the start. Kanye’s the only person who can get away with being a douche bag because…well, he is and he doesn’t really give a crap because he’s getting massive publicity for it too and Kanye loves publicity and Kanye and doesn’t care what people think.

It was definitely faked, in the same way the Eminem/Bruno controversy was earlier this year. Its almost predictable, its an MTV sponsored award show, something newsworthy will happen.

When Kanye jumped on stage, where were the security? Well of course they didnt grab him because he was meant to be there.

HOWEVER, even if it’s fake or its not, MTV achieved its aim didnt it: The awards were 48hours ago, and, even if we’re only questioning the events, we’re STILL talking about them.

Thats the whole point of controversy. “Kanye West” and “Taylor Swift” are both still trending on twitter, they’re still in the news, bloggers are still talking about it.

I think it was simply a case of an A-hole being an A-hole. I don’t think much happens on that show without being scripted but I don’t think the outburst was a part of a grand scheme.
