I love Swap Meets and Flea Markets.  It’s like a real live treasure hunt.  Where else can you find a complete deluxe set of Domino Rally for a dollar?  Well last weekend I went to our local flea market at the NC State Fairgrounds this past weekend and found a few sweet items.

I present the  Fraggle Rock McDonalds’ Happy Meal Toys. For a grand total of $75 cents I got to take home the complete set.  Most kids from my generation have fond memories of the McDonalds Happy Meal and McDonalds in general.  The food didn’t really matter, but it was the toys and the PlayPlace that made the golden arches special to a young kid.

I do remember the Fraggle Rock Happy Meal toys quite fondly. By the time these toys came out the original run of the show had ended on HBO, thus making Fraggle Rock merch not as abundant as The Real Ghostbusters was then. I was the kind of kid that needed to have a toy for any show I watched, so Mickey Ds gave me my fix.

As toys themselves, they are pretty simple but they are great sculpts that relate to the characters.  The colors are diverse, bright, and engaging to a 3-year-old kid.  After 21 years, they still hold up quite well.  They are good likenesses of the characters and look great sitting on a shelf (which they are doing now).

Now lets look at the Fraggles:

So all in all a fun “under dollar” find at my flea market. If you’re a fan of Fraggle Rock and you happen upon these guys pick em up. They are a fun slice of retro-belia.
