Emergency Lost Discussion: THE LOST AIR DATE REVEALED!!
Exciting news for Lost fans today as Carlton Cuse officially released the following on his Twitter:
LOST will premiere Tuesday, February 2 at 9PM.
The news that Losties everywhere have been waiting for.
The ABC press release that followed this announcement gave the following regular cast members (think what you will to these):
Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Ben, Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Ken Leung as Miles, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Terry O’Quinn as Locke and Zuleikha Robinson as Ilana
Given that the announcement has no mention of a stoppage for the Olympics which many had pondered, and assuming a 2 part season opener (confirmed) and a 2 part finale (almost certain) Lost will end in exactly 6 months: May 18th, 2010.
So that’s it. There’s just 6 months to go. Are you ready, because its going to be a wild ride?!

I wouldn’t call this exciting news, so much as I would call it disappointing news. This is LOST’s final season. It deserves to be on the day it belongs on. It shouldn’t be pushed aside by other programing, ABC. LOST day will always be Wednesdays to me. Not that I won’t watch it regardless of the day.
Yeah I’m glad that they finally gave us an air date. But Tuesdays? Yuck. It’s funny this is the one show that has aired on a different night at different times every season, and yet the Lost followers are still following it no matter where and when it airs. I think that since we have put up with the repeats, blocks different times and dates. I think that we Lost fans deserve an entire season non-stop. Forget the Olympics, you can watch the highlights online anyway. I’m one of those that really doesn’t watch the Olympics anyway it will be a good 2 weeks to catch up on Netflix and everything on my DVR.
I’m so excited! At least we all have plenty of time to buy tissues between now and Feb 2.
Oh and did anyone else notice that Henry Ian Cusiak is not listed as a regular????
On the contrary Jason, I think this is a brilliant move for ABC for a potential POWERHOUSE Tuesday. Pending V gets awesome/pickedup.
I agree with Boston, a Lost at 9, V at 10 combo would be brilliant sci fi scheduling.
I can’t believe its all going to be over in 6months… that is actually quite sad.

I’m surprised to not see either Henry Ian Cusick or Alan Dale or even Brad William Henke (who plays Bram, Ilana’s partner, who I’d think if Ilana was going to be a regular would also be one) as regulars. I’m sure all will guest on several episodes though (I’d seriously hope so anyway)
Even more disappointing than LOST being on Tuesdays, is HIC not being a regular. He’s my favorite character besides Sayid. The only thing I can think of to explain this is that 1) He’s going to die or 2) He doesn’t go back to the island, which probably means we won’t see him as much, like in Season 5. I’m hoping it’s the latter rather than the former. As Sayid would say, Son of a beech!
I’m just glad an actual countdown can begin. Also with Claire coming back we will get plenty of Jay’s impression on the podcast.

Wow, this has been a really friggin awesome day for planning 2010 TV viewing schedules
I’m glad that we’ve finally gotten an air date. I was really hoping that they would put LOST, V and Flash Forward on the same night so ABC would have a power drama block, but I guess that’s asking too much. Guess I’ll have to settle for Tuesdays.
And, I, too am disappointed that Henry Ian Cusick won’t be a regular. However, I’m willing to bet that he’ll show up eventually. And, lest we all forget, the regular cast listing changes from show to show. What was published may be the listing for the first episode, but it’s going to change as the season goes on, especially if they start killing off characters.
@Beth: The REGULARS list stays the same all season, which is why Harold Perrineau appears on the “Starring” list for every Season4 episode despite not appearing til episode7,
HOWEVER every episode has a “Guest starring:” list, which can include an unlimited amount of people, and its likely HIC will guest star in several episode.
I find it interesting that Ilana will be a series regular this season. What do you think that could mean for where the plot heads and raise your hand if you think that the actress who plays her is basically the luckiest woman in Hollywood right now?
I don’t like the actress who plays Ilana very much. I had hoped she wasn’t going to be very important - I prefer Bram as far as that group goes….but I guess she is.
I’m glad to see Frank is staying on as a regular - I hope we find out what he’s a candidate for quite early on.
I’m not sure if HIC will be back. Actors with legal issues tend to disappear from Lost.
I literaly don’t think they can afford to not wrap up Desmond some how, even if its just 1 episode with him back in.
Desmond is a really, really, REALLY big part of the mythology of the show. After all, out of all the flashbacks/forwards/etc., it’s DESMOND who has ones dealing with time travel and constants and important reveals that directly relate to where the show was for the second half of Season 4 and Season 5.
Perhaps Desmond will be supplanted by Daniel. Dan was very crucial to the time travel last season. Also if last year was the time travel season and this isn’t he may be easy to let slide away. I don’t know anything spoilery and could be completely off base but its just a possibility that Des/Penny may not be wrapped up.,
Can Jay and Jack just scrap FlashforwardCast tonight and have an impromptu Lost discussion instead?

Another 2 months to wait I can’t stand it. Sad to see HIC is not a regular. I missed him last season. Also hoping Elizabeth Mitchell will be back if only as guest star. The countdown begins.
I agree w James. Think back to what E. Hawking said to Des about the Island not being “done with [him"] There has to be @least a one ep wrap up, but I think they’ll need more than that. I’ve been rewatching LOST to cacth my sister up and I’ve been thinking abotu all the places Hawking has showed up or had her hand in something and what she knows about the future (for Des and Dan-think of the man w the red shoes, and her talking to Dan when he was a child playing the piano, and her being in the pic w the monk) She/the Island/Jacob(maybe) needs things to play out a certain way, and somehow that way invloves Desmond.
Also think of the potential as we all know (and some-myself included-hate) for alternate realities and what the Losties may or may not have accomplished. And Jacob’s line: “It only ends once, anything else is just progress)
Sorry that was a lot, but you have to try and look @ the biggest pic possible pic/mosaic w LOST, there’s a lot going on and you can’t lose the forest throught trees.
BTW soemthign I’ve wanted to say for a while and keep forgetting to mention. I love how LOST, despite the fact that it’s fans never really know what’s going on, never treats it’s viewers like idiots.
Without wanting to spoil anyone else who doesnt know: Janie….there…may be something in the idea of Mitchell as a guest star…

I’m absolutely crushed that Henry Ian Cusick is no longer a regular cast member. I can’t imagine what TPTB were thinking! HIC has performed so incredibly well and many of his episodes are widely considered the best of the whole show. Season 5 really suffered for his lack of appearances in my opinion. If he doesn’t show up in at least a few episodes, with the main Desmond questions answered, then Lost will be forever tainted for me.
“The island isn’t done with you yet Desmond.” I’ve always thought that Des is just as crucial to the overall island mythology as John Jack Ben or any of them. He’s one of my favorites and just because he’s not a regular doesn’t mean they won’t still use him a lot BUT if they try and say that his story arc is over I will be very disappointed. I absolutely trust the writers but come on now Desmond needs to be in on the war and …well just please don’t be completely done with his story.
I wonder if that sexual-harrassment stuff played any role in the fact that HIC is not a series-regular….
I hope they still resolve some Desmond/Penny stuff. Does anyone know whose face it is in the top left corner beside Richard?
I have class until 9:30 PM Tuesdays next semester…i guess it’s finally time to invest in a DVR.
I’m just glad they kept it at 9pm. If it started at 10, I wouldn’t even be able to watch it until the evening of the following day, which would SUCK! Speaking of suck, February? Darn. I was hoping for a January 20-something start date. I know it’s only 1-2+ weeks but oh well, no real complaints here.
@Laura…I was wondering the exact same thing. The only guesses that I had were Charlotte or Penny, but it doesn’t really look like either one of them…weird. Excited that Richard is finally a regular!!!
