Tonight is the last new episode of FlashForward before it goes on hiatus for the next month or so.  Episode 110, titled “A561984,” centers around Demitri’s quest to find out more about his murder.

Comments will probably contain spoilers, so if you aren’t watching it live or if you’re flashing into the future to read this and haven’t watched the episode yet, then beware.

So what do you think?  Is this enough to make you stick around and want to come back for the second half of the season?

There’s the episode title. Shouldn’t be surprised that other people have their own board.

it just got even better am going to miss lost but this will do just fine

I have to confess that the only reason I ever thought that she was at Demitri’s funeral was because of the line by Tracy Morgan in “30 Rock” when Liz Lemon is wearing the wedding dress and he goes to her, “What happened? Did a Korean person die?!”

Also, kinda bummed that they went with the predictable route that Mark is the one who shot him. There’s got to be some kinda catch to it that ISN’T the other most predicted theory that it’s because Demitri is a “sleeper” agent. NO WAY the producers of a TV show who are trying to win over “Lost” viewers would ever do something that most people guessed in the first episode. There’s just no way.

howd the police get there that fast??

    @Will

I thought she took the gun off of the security guard.

  • liana said:

it could just be that someone used his gun but thats a little too easy

  • Will said:

    @ManilaRaf

Oh ok. My eyes are slow lol

  • Melody said:

    Hey guys.

Well, I highly doubt Demetri is a sleeper agent but I would be very upset if they did take the easy way and do that… :/

“Hey hot stuff, I heard you killed 20 million people… Oh what’s that you went to Harvard in 98. Wow I was supposed to also, how cool. Wanna move in with me?”

  • Colleen (author) said:

Okay, I just had another idea.

Smoker Woman said that them coming there probably would set off the chain of events that would cause Demitri’s murder. She knew that it was Mark’s gun that killed him and knew that if he thought he was responsible, he would pull a stunt that would get his badge/gun taken away from him. So in fact, their visit did set off that chain of events because who knows where that gun will end up.

Though, why did Mark see himself in his office in the future? That’s the only thing I can’t add up, I guess.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Who else out there wanted to be the Hong Kong SWAT Team member who smacked Mark in the back of the head with a MP-5 raise your hands.

    *raises hand*

Keiko better find Dr Bryce soon, or else Nicole may make a move. Anyone else seeing that?

Well, guess that’s how Dylan ends up living with Olivia & co.

I need a lot more Simon.

What a great episode! I can’t wait until 2010. I think I have more questions with the preview of what’s ahead than I do with the episode.

  • M.G. said:

tragic ending, I’m actually starting to like Lloyd a little more. But seriously, what was Olivia doing, such a hypocrite. Did anyone else think that the preview for the rest of the season was far too revealing?

  • Will said:

I didn’t see the preview. That was the last one of the year?

  • James said:

Is there anyone in the whole world who didnt know the ambulance drivers were bad guys…. and as for Demitri being killed by Mark, I was actually convinced we knew that already…not sure why as obviously we didnt, but I just sorta assumed that was a given at this point for some reason….

This may have been the best episode in a long time, but it was still INCREDIBLY predictable….I’ve given this show a lot of chances, and now, finally, I think its time to give in. I doubt I’ll watch it when it comes back - I won’t mind too much if I miss it anyway lets put it that way!!

Such a shame…this could have been a superb show, but in 10episodes, I honestly feel like whats been covered could have been done in about 3….

  • Michael David said:

This ep had a much better flow than most of the eps so far.

  • Colleen (author) said:

MG - I think it was a little too revealing but by March, we’ll probably have forgotten it lol

Will - yeah, it was the last one til March 2010 so they did a huge trailer for it with a lot of revealing things

  • ManilaRaf said:

@James: It’s a lot better than Defying Gravity was. THAT show was 10x as worse when it came to stretching plot points over multiple episodes.

Anyways, I think the FF was a view of the future of a different world. One of Lloyd’s “infinite worlds”. One where Al Gough is still alive, where Dimitri’s dead, among a ton of other things that maybe different.

  • M.G. said:

@ManilaRaf: very good point about the flash being an alt reality, i like your thinking

  • M.G. said:

Mark’s gun will end up in the wrong hands. THAT is how it will happen.

  • A.H. said:

anyone know where the preview clip will be online? i might’ve missed it

  • Beth Agejew said:

@Colleen: The trailer did seem to reveal a lot, but how much was taken out of context and made to look like something it might not be? If that was the case, some of the stuff they showed could be quite misleading!

Tonight’s episode was my favorite so far. I can’t wait for March to see where it all leads. I hate the thought of Mark killing Dem, so I’m hoping that M.G. is right and that Mark’s gun winds up in the wrong hands.

  • James said:

Just saw Jack retweet this on twitter and thought i’d post it here for anyone who missed it:

Mark: Why would I kill my partner? BECAUSE I WAS LOADED OK!! =D

Uh did Adam Horowitz write that promo line?

I expected Keamy to kick a grenade in the little cafe and blow up Omar again.

Sonya’s character is so unlikeable she’s actually bringing down Penelope a couple of notches

Since it seems to be coming around to not being able to change the future, is it possible that the publicity Celia received from Al’s letter and suicide somehow results in her death, thereby making Al, possibly indirectly, responsible for Celia’s death?

I’m interested in the whole “other worlds” possibilities. Kind of sound similar to the Sliding Doors moving starting Gweneth Paltrow from a while back where the movie parallels what happened to her character if she DID and DID NOT miss a train stop. I’m guessing some of the flashes in the previews we saw were glimpses in to these other worlds where our characters are in different places in their lives depending on minor events that were altered.

I also wonder if the “sleeper agents” (aka - those that did NOT see anything) are really that same character from another parallel world and they just don’t know it yet? Maybe the blackouts let certain people (sleeper agents) cross from one of these worlds to another and those sleeper agents hold some key to fixing all this that we just don’t know yet? Interesting possibilities.

I haven’t watched the episode yet (probably will this evening, as per usual) but I’m sure it won’t be by choice that I don’t watch this show anymore. It hit a season-low 2.2 (and probably even less–ABC showed the Jets/Bills game in Buffalo over FF) in the ratings and looks destined to be cancelled after season 1, which is a shame because I like this show even more than V. I don’t know why so many people have given up on it already. What’s worse is it is now going on hiatus for 3 months, which will surely lose even more viewers. Bye bye FlashForward, you will be sorely missed.

Just listened to the podcast for Believe, I wanted to help Jack so he can stop obsessing over Joseph Finnies’ bottom lip. He had a bad surfing accident in Australia several years ago, his bottom lip was almost torn off completely, they had to sew it back on. Luckily he had not shaved and they used the line of stubble as a guide to sew it back on. You can google the details, he has done several interviews about it. If you look you can see his lip is a bit large on the left side and it appears he is chewing on it but it is scarred.

There you go Jack, does that help the obsession?

Love the new opening with the “loaded” song.

  • Michael David said:

I just read where they are breaking until March so they can avoid the Olympics, have straight run to the end with no breaks and tweak the show. I hope the hiatus doesn’t kill the show but I don’t think it will last more than next season at best if ratings do not turn around.

  • Cucumber Jones said:

This episode was great; the trailer for the second half of the season looks even better. I didn’t think it was too predictable, other than Demetri’s funeral… and the ambulance guys not being real paramedics. I didn’t know it was Mark’s gun, nor did I know he’d be forced to give up his badge. Hands down the best episode of the season. We just need to see more Simon, and see less of Olivia being a two-timing, flirtatious tramp.

  • Eric said:

A very uneven show. But I’ll certainly continue watching (though Lost will end up consuming my life!)
And the sudden change in character for Olivia was not at all believable

  • Carol from Boston said:

Reasons why Lost works and Flash Forward doesn’t.

Lost - tropical setting, with many interesting mysteries. Character driven stories, character backgrounds. Plus the biggest thing FlashForward is missing, humor!! We need Hurley’s comedy, Sawyer’s witty and sarcastic remarks, Charlie’s earnestness.

The characters have to be fleshed out more so we actually care about what happens to them. Too many grim moments in this show.

Lost can be very dark, but beautiful setting offsets that. Notice the show never worked as well in the LA setting.

  • Cucumber Jones said:

Is anyone watching Lost for comedic reasons though? I don’t think the one laugh per show average is keeping any sitcom fans tuned in on a weekly basis. For what it’s worth, FF seems to keep pace with the one laugh per show standard Lost has set.

I do agree that we need more character development. A lot of fans of the show loves the Keiko episode (although I hated it personally), so clearly fans of this show want character development.

  • Michael said:

I think the lighthearted moments on Lost help endear it to it’s fanbase but it is the quality story and acting that keep people watching. FF just hasn’t had that breakout ep yet. There have been sone good eps but nothing that compares to the best eps of Lost, even during it’s first season. Once the writers find a balance between character development and the overall story that’s when the show will hit its stride. Olivia’s bizarre fawning over a possible mass murderer was ridiculous and is the best example of the uneven development.

  • Carol from Boston said:

Though I do not watch Lost or FlashForward for comedic reasons, a dark show like this needs some levity or the plot seems too dark or drags. The show needs a funny line thrown in once in a while to break the tension.

  • Kyle from Kentucky said:

Mark is the one that gets me. There are lighthearted moments in lost that really ease the tension of the high octane moments. Mark is always dark and depressed and angry. Not good times

  • Carol from Boston said:

    Kyle,

I agree with you completely. Mark really doesn’t have any redeeming qualities.
