  • NaysWay said:

I’m glad I read the comments should be kept clean before I said anything. That opening was ri-damn-diculous! (Is that clean enough?)

  • Becky said:

I saw episode 1 the other day. Someone was Ustreaming it.. Very interesting episode. I will keep mum.

So Desmond was right… He saw Jack in another life.

  • Colleen (author) said:

    @Chris - haha, nice!

  • liana said:

oh so they just went back to season 2 basically

  • Yasmin said:

    So confused

  • liana said:

so theres 2 of everyone then??

  • liana said:

    what a loser

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Yeah for the marshall. I was hoping we could see him. I just loved his character.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Right now, my first thought is that @ChrisInBoston’s theory back in August (the discussion about the title) was right…

  • liana said:

wow they really took the easy way out didn’t they

  • Chris said:

    Soooo freakin confused….

  • Colleen (author) said:

    @ Iliana - how so?

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

    Please don’t die Sayid.

  • liana said:

everybodys fine but now theres two of them?? unless the plane scenes are in the past. we’re basically gonna be just watching two of their lives happen- on and off the island.

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

    OMG!!!!!! Didn’t expect that one.

  • Just Mike said:

Good thing Hurley can see dead people, eh?

  • Will said:

They forgot about Sayid. Maybe Jacob can help him.

  • NaysWay said:

Alright, so was an alternate reality created? And WTF? Jacob?! So delirious right now…

  • Jason Mc said:

WOW WOW WOW I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY

  • Kate said:

I loved that doc was carrying a pamphlet about bugs or spiders when he was talking to hurley on the plane

  • Kelly Jo said:

“I HAVE A GUN AND I KNOW HOW TO USE IT!”-Hurley.

So far the best quote of the episode.

  • Will said:

    Oh no. Subtitles.

  • Neck Stab said:

Muuuuahhh…. And so the end begins…. Sayid is getting touched… Doppelganger action… wonder if FACEBOOK knew… lol

  • Kate said:

Since when is Rob Lowe on Lost?!

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Ahhh Frogurt next to Locke and Boone. Boone is so sexy.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Kelly Jo/everyone else who loves that line - You’ll see this in the interview that Jay and Jack did with Jorge that’s going to be on nuDia.tv tomorrow afternoon, but Jorge said that that line is an inside joke to all the fans who always point out that everyone knows how to use a gun on the Island lol

And that spoiler was brought to you by YuBlog.org so stay tuned for that and more!

  • Colleen (author) said:

I think Boone’s throwaway line about Shannon is a great way to both explain Shannon’s absence since Maggie Grace didn’t want to come back and furthers the belief that it’s an alternate reality.

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Ha ha don’t do it Boone.

  • liana said:

do bodies usually burn that fast? ive never tried it but i would think it takes longer

  • Melody said:

Spoiler for those not watching right now…

I was thrilled to see Boone just now!!! I wonder who else we will see from the past.

  • liana said:

i bet jay was happy to see that

  • Will said:

    I love this show

  • Melody said:

Oh man, I was so excited to see Boone, I didn’t even hear what he said that was the throwaway line about Shannon.

  • Neck Stab said:

This is a trip… I agree with Will. I love this show.

  • Kate said:

Wow.. this is great so far. Love how Ben was so quick to start lying again.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Melody - He told Locke that he went to Australia to get his sister out of a relationship that it turned out she didn’t want to get out of. The opposite of why he went to Australia in the pilot

  • Marla said:

Maybe the plane scenes are in the future and that’s what eventually will happen.

  • DizWhiz said:

    I was right! Dual/alternate timelines..still confused.

  • Will said:

Sayid is still bleeding out.Can they spare Jack?

  • Colleen (author) said:

Man, I cannot WAIT to find out what is in that guitar case! Any guesses?

  • liana said:

yes!!! tell us whats in the case

  • liana said:

    more ash??

  • vader75 said:

Sayid is Jacob and Locke is DWG
    SAYID wins!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • liana said:

    charlie od’d

  • liana said:

    called it

  • Will said:

    charlie!

  • Stan said:

What’s up with alt-Jack’s neck? And how appropriate Sayid has to go to the temple where he caused Ben to end up.

  • Neck Stab said:

    you all everybody

  • Becky said:

    Yes.. Charlie is back…..

  • Kelly Jo said:

    Charlie! :D

  • Colleen (author) said:

@Stan - I love how it comes full circle too!

  • Kate said:

wow, Lost is brutal! I was so excited to see Charlie again!

  • vader75 said:

My bad i guess its Charlie

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

NOOOOO please don’t kill Charlie in his appearance this season. I love Dom.

  • Just Mike said:

Don’t worry…Jack will bring Charlie back with a little CPR, and perhaps an adrenaline shot.

  • Kelly Jo said:

    @vader that has to happen!

  • Melody said:

Thanks Colleen! Wow that’s insane…Charlie! Ahhh!!!

  • Jason Mc said:

cant wait to see this temple it just took 6 years lol

  • Will said:

They sure are paying the bills a lot.

  • kellie said:

This is like a freakin’ cast reunion.

  • Will said:

    Earhardt. Nice Sawyer nickname.

  • Chris said:

    A pen!!!!

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Send Boone to find a pen. lol. No one has said anything about the re-appearance of Cindy. I wonder if this means we really will see her at the temple.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Foxy’s wife: “So how was work today, honey?” Foxy: “Oh, not bad. Stuck my fingers down Dom’s throat for about 30 takes. Cried a lot. All in a day’s work, I guess.”

  • Will said:

HOw did Jack lose the pen in his jacket? :)

  • liana said:

i thought it was like a mile deep

  • liana said:

    his teeth are super white

  • Chris said:

Ironic that Sayid shoots Ben who has to go to the Temple to be saved. Now Ben’s dad shoots Sayid who has to go to the Temple to be saved.

  • Stan said:

Why did the van travel to the future????

  • Neck Stab said:

    The long goodbye… She’s toast… lol

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Nice one Colleen about Foxy, lol

  • liana said:

i thought jack had heard of jacob

  • Kelly Jo said:

    Hurley FTW

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

    Just please don’t kill Richard.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Take a deep breath, everyone. Trust me.

  • Neck Stab said:

    It’s so intended… lol

  • Just Mike said:

    SMOKE!

  • liana said:

    hows that for answers

  • Will said:

    OMG

  • liana said:

  • DizWhiz said:

“sorry you had to see me like that” fantastic line =)

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

DUDE!!!!!!!!! Holy Poo!!! So Smokey is Anti-Jacob.

  • Neck Stab said:

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chris said:

so Locke is smokey is DWG is…. ay-yi-yi….

  • BJ Cagle said:

To use the british term - i am totally gobsmacked. best episode ever.

  • Will said:

Now we have to go back and think about every appearance of the smoke monster.

  • Becky said:

So Locke #2 said to Ben…. Sorry I had to do it… Interesting that Chris said… That Sayid shot Young Ben(Temple to be saved) & that Ben’s Father shot Sayid & now he has to be taken to the Temple..

  • Patty said:

This is amazing!!! The first hour is not even over yet!!! And I love Ben’s expressions!

  • Jeff in Texas said:

Holy crap!! My head’s starting to hurt from all that we’ve seen so far!!!

  • Stan said:

Not totally thrilled with the Locke/scene cut/Smokie/scene cut/Locke special effect. A bit old school. Great line from Locke (MIB) though!

  • Kelly Jo said:

I kinda called it but I was still surprised :)

  • Neck Stab said:

    Awwwwweeee

  • NaysWay said:

No, Juliet! Don’t go into the “V” light!

  • Colleen (author) said:

I swear Juliet was about to say “I’m pregnant” to Sawyer. I also am getting teary-eyed right now yet again.

  • liana said:

ugh ive hated juliet from the get go but i still dont want her to die

  • Chris said:

Nooooo not the Hall & Oates sounding song…..

  • Neck Stab said:

  • Will said:

    Grunny

  • Kelly Jo said:

    RIP Juliet

  • Neck Stab said:

Sun is such a little hu-ore.

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Is that the same Asian extra next to Hurley as in the season finale 1? How interesting.

  • NaysWay said:

So is Jack supposed to constantly eff up everyone’s future? No matter what reality he’s in? And the stewardess… sorry if anyone’s already called it, but isn’t that the woman who was in charge of the children in the Others camp on the island?

  • Colleen (author) said:

I think that it’d be really awesome if we find out that Frank Lapidus was the one to be flying the plane in this “reality” instead of Grunny.

  • Will said:

That was Greg Grunberg as the voice of the captain, right?

  • kellie said:

Hooray for Greg Grunberg’s voice as the pilot!

  • Chris said:

Charlie, “I was supposed to die.” Heavy..

  • Neck Stab said:

    I love felon Kate!

  • liana said:

so was locke lying about the walkabout or what??

  • Yasmin said:

    Sawyer leave Hurley alone!

  • Will said:

@Nays She was the stewardess on the plane before she was in the Others camp.

  • Neck Stab said:

“That was Greg Grunberg as the voice of the captain, right?”

    - This is Captain Stubbing… lol

  • Colleen (author) said:

@Neck Stab - haha you just made me literally laugh out loud with that Sun comment.

@Jlyn - I think that Beth (Jorge’s girlfriend) said they call on some of the extras more than once since they live on the island, so it’s possible that it’s the same lady.

@NaysWay - Yes, Cindy is the same person.

  • Jana said:

    Bunch of teary moments there

  • Colleen (author) said:

Poor Locke :( Anyone else notice how different people saw Locke in his wheelchair this time? Am I right thinking this? Or at least people saw him at different times?

  • Just Mike said:

OK, admit it…who thought that Locke was going to stand up at the end?

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

I don’t know why but I’m tearing up at the end of that episode. It wasn’t sad, but it was great to see everyone get to LAX and not suffer so much.. So what’s in the guitar.

  • Jeff in Texas said:

So where the heck is Claire? She should still have been on the plane, right? I know, I know…I need to wait and see.

  • Neck Stab said:

@Neck Stab - haha you just made me literally laugh out loud with that Sun comment.

Ha ha ha… She is though… we forget in that guise of her strong motherlyness… but she’s a dirty birdy when the doors close… ha ha ha. Poor Jin… He should have got some French action when he had the chance… =)

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

I still love the fact that Frogurt was on the plane.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Just Mike - Jay was convinced on Saturday night that he was going to, but I knew he was lying the whole time ;)

  • Jeff in Texas said:

@Just Mike—I know I expected Locke to get up and walk out of there.

  • darthvader75 said:

    crackpot THEORY
Sawyer becomes the new DWG and Jack is the new Jacob.
They said the cycle always happens the same

  • Colleen (author) said:

    @darthvader75 - LOVE IT!

  • Jessica said:

My brain hurts. Great show though!!

  • Neck Stab said:

That dude just scored on his mom… ha ha ha

  • Becky said:

    Where did Desomond go to????

  • Patty said:

I don’t understand why Shannon wasn’t on the plane. Shouldn’t she be there?

  • NaysWay said:

@Will - Awesome, thanks. But, for some reason, I thought she was always on the island with the Others and not on the plane. I’m going to have to brush up on my past eps.

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Colleen now you are the rest of us, have no idea what the heck is going to happen.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Patty - she wasn’t on the plane because Maggie Grace opted not to come back for Season 6, so they created a “new” story for her in this universe (that she didn’t want to get out of that relationship after all).

  • Jeff in Texas said:

If looks could kill, Sawyer would have killed Jack many times over already!

  • Chris said:

    OMG.. they lost the body…..

  • Becky said:

    WOW Coffin missing.

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Ha ha, Colleen you thought you had bad luck with airlines.

  • liana said:

May I be the first to say…. “Ziggurat” ahhhhhh

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

Welcome to the temple. One of those guys looked very much like a pirate

“It’s like Darlton are saying “Here is a bunch of answers so we can get on with the story” and I’m not complaining!”

    Tizzotally!

  • Stan said:

If that is a ziggurat then there should be a small building on top where the gods reside.

  • Neck Saav said:

    Potty time…

OHHHH so that’s how Jack lost his pen!! Kate you sly devil you

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Damon & Carlton were teasing that the love triangle may be coming back this season and I’m guessing that Alternate Reality Kate, Jack & Sawyer are gonna get it on (not all 3 at once). BOO.

“OHHHH so that’s how Jack lost his pen!! Kate you sly devil you”

She” Jacked” his pen… ha ha ha ha!!!!

  • Neck Saav said:

I created this…. Chris witnessed… right here and now! >> The Ankhy Tonk Man! He’s gonna jam-out in the Ziggurat with his band, then kick some butt in the big ancient wrestling ring in the middle. Yeah…
    The Ankhy Tonk Man…

  • Jeff in Texas said:

    @Boston…care to refresh our memories?

  • Neck Saav said:

    Barefoot and bad-arse

  • BJ Cagle said:

Opps - - I mean “it’s going to be a bumpy night” (it’s often misquoted as ride)

  • DizWhiz said:

    @Kelly Jo
I made a joke about Hurleey being the key in S1 and who knew it might be true?

  • Neck Saav said:

The hippy with the glasses is like the organ player… =)

  • Will said:

Kelly Jo: Dawn is the key. Always

  • Just Mike said:

Didn’t Richard say the same thing to Kate when he took Ben to the Temple?

The following is my post from: # 24 August 2009 at 11:00 pm here on YuBlog

    ChrisInBoston said:

Chris In Miami - First off, great post. Second off, great name. Bravo, your parents were wicked fahkin’ smaht. Too bad you guys don’t have a pro sports team worth a lick in Miami. No, you can’t put a claim on the D-Rays. Nobody ever liked them before they made it to the World Series, not even their own mothers.

Anyways, I digress. I totally dig your theory. It does have one tragic flaw in my opinion. They could never take your story idea (which totally rocks) and cram that shit into one last, shortened television season.

Regardless, I like where your going with this. I too think the alternate timeline scenario will unfold. We’ll get a glimpse at the “what if this whole thing never went down” life stories of our beloved cast, as alluded to in the Comic-Con videos. These same peeps, through course-correcting circumstances will all be brought back together to embark on the journey to our favorite “in need of an all-inclusive tiki-bar” island.

Why are they to go back to the island? They’re going back because they (which person or persons, not sure yet) never accomplished what they were intended to do. Maybe the course-correction of the island started taking place well before we thought. Maybe the our losties’ plan of exhuming and detonating the H-Bomb was a plan that was put in place by the island way back when. In other words, what if the bomb going KaBoom was the island’s way of hitting start and reloading that save point from back in an earlier season, but it took a few seasons for that plan to unfold?

I just pulled all of that straight out of my Beantown butt, but it actually started to make sense to me as I was typing it. I’m still left with a question though. Do these timelines mesh together? When these losties return, do they assume the prior knowledge of of the previous seasons? HOLY SHIT! are they the voices in the woods? HOLY SHIT!!!!!!! Are the voices of the losties from seasons 1-5 the voices in the woods? Can’t decide! Can’t decide! BRAIN ANEURYSM!!!!

Anyways, fellow Lost fans. Chew on that shit for a while.

    ChrisInBoston

Ps. Way to contribute to the conversation, Robin. :P

  • Just Mike said:

So is Sayid going to be on Flashforward or V?

  • NaysWay said:

No one’s really dead on the island. Come on back, Sayid.

  • Jana said:

Wow total Lost night. Continues on Nightline & Jimmy Kimmel

  • Kelly Jo said:

No Sayid can’t be dead :(

  • Jeff in Texas said:

@Boston…I remember that post and it’s obviously got some merit so far!!

  • Laura said:

    I am soooo confused!

  • Stan said:

    No MIB/Locke this episode??

  • Colleen (author) said:

Too early in the night; Sayid can’t really be dead…He’s got to come back with Jacob within him.

OH OH OH OH OH OH OH!!! What if when Ben went to the temple, someone else’s dead spirit inhabited HIM?!?!?!!!!! THAT’S WHY RICHARD SAID HE “WOULD BE CHANGED FOREVER”! YOUNG BEN DIED AND THE BEN WE KNOW IS SOMEONE ELSE!!

  • Chris said:

Hmmm, like Matt said, Jack “responsible” for 2 deaths on island. Will he “kill” everyone? Is that how we”ll have course correction?

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Ha ha the PA message said San “Paulo”

WAIT!!! I COPIED THE WRONG POST. THIS POST WAS FROM: # 10 August 2009 at 2:20 pm

    ChrisInBoston said:

So here’s my two cents. Don’t even know if this relates to the post, but whatever, you’re already reading this.

The plan worked. The plane lands. Everything’s all hunky dory for our losties. Oceanic has a clean flight record, Hurly opens up the Outback version of Mr. Cluck’s, Kate gets pinched for yet another crime. (see commercials from comic-con video), and these folks have no knowledge of the island.

However, I think that the losties on the island will still be alive and kicking in some alternate reality. Could the goal of season 6 be to align the two realities together to bring our lost doppelgangers into symbiosis (word of the day).

Trippy stuff, but this might give the writer’s a way to bring back some of our old favorites (see Cesar’s Dominic Monaghan palm picture).

who knows, I’m not even sure if I agree with me.

  • Jeff in Texas said:

My head is really gonna explode! I’m gonna have to watch this one at least one more time, if not two or three if I have any chance of remotely understanding it.

One thing I noticed…wheelchair Locke sure seemed a lot more at ease than what I recall. So maybe he did get to go on his walkabout? Remember Hurley’s comment to Sawyer on the plane…that he was one of the luckiest guys in the world. So obviously more changed than just the flight not crashing. Whatever the bomb did had a bigger impact than what we thought.

    Is it next Tuesday yet?????

NaysWays I hope Juliet died or else we have a repeat of Nikki & Paulo. Though I wish she wasn’t dead.

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

I want to have a theory…..but….I just have absolutely no idea right now. I like ChrisInBoston’s idea that the rest of the season will be spent trying to reunite the Island time line with the Oceanic 815 landing at LA X time line.

  • Colleen (author) said:

I really hope that we get to see Elizabeth Mitchell in the alternate timeline, especially since Dead Juliet seemed to know that it worked…which reminds me: How did Juliet know it worked BEFORE she even died?!?!?!

  • Laura said:

Wow, wow, wow. Could not have asked for a better season opener. This show is just the best.

@Becky-yes, they gave us that idea in the season finale last year when Jacob looks at “Locke” and says “You found your loophole.”

  • Kelly Jo said:

So I think that Alpert was a slave on the ship headed towards the island, in the season 5 finale, hence the chains.

That or DWG was referring to the chains of Jacob’s control over Richard.

  • Jeff in Texas said:

@Colleen–Maybe Juliet was somehow between the two timelines as she was dying. That’s how she knew it worked.

  • Jeff in Texas said:

    That should be realities…not timelines.

  • Jennielyn said:

45 mins. for me I can’t wait will read comments after I watch

  • Bart said:

I agree with Jeff in Texas. Didn’t Juliet say something about “going dutch” as if she was on a date? Seems to me that we will see that in the alternate reality.

  • cindy said:

Awesome episode! I wonder who came back as Sayid - this guy has a different accent. And if someone “comes back” from being dead, where does the island get the “new” personalities from?

  • Stan said:

I think that MIB was referring to both Richard’s days as a slave and Jacob’s hold over him. He said something similar to Bram before Smoking him.

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

Theory!!!!!!!!!!!!! Locke came back to life in Sayid’s body, which is why his accent is different.

  • cindy said:

Don’t think Alpert was a slave. Criminals were “transported” to colonies all the time - Australia was a penal colony back in the late 1800’s (Sweeny Todd anyone?). I’m bringing up that date since the Black Rock had dynamite and it it hadn’t been invented till the last half of the 1800’s

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

So if Sayid dies does that mean no more kick butt deaths from him i.e. break dance neck break, dishwasher stabbing, etc.

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

When Man in Black was carrying Richard away from the Statue, the camera took an obvious pause on Locke’s body. Cut to the Temple and Sayid wakes up w/ an accent that isn’t Sayid. He was drowned in that water, which is apparently how they heal people. Based on this, I agree w/ what Colleen said abt Young Ben not being the same person as Current Ben. The Others drowned him in the water and he came back as a deceased other, hence Richard saying “he’ll never be the same again” or something like that before he took YB from Kate.

    My head hurts.

  • Laura said:

Why didn’t Ilana shoot NotLocke after he knocked Richard out! And what does he want with Richard????

  • Joel Henderson said:

I think Sayid is now Jacob. Just throwing it out there as a theory. Don’t know if others felt the same.

  • Laura said:

    @ Matt (darry2385) and
@ Colleen - if your theory is correct then does Ben remember who he used to be?

  • ChrisInBoston said:

    Sayid is Jacob.

  • NaysWay said:

So… if you die on the island… you get to go home? To the alternate reality? Is that right? I don’t know, man, I’m going to bed.

  • lgabriel said:

OMG!!!! Sayid!!! he’s alive!!!!!! I about had a heart attack… I had a sliver of hope when I saw that Miles looked confused over his body. I assume it was because he couldn’t communicate him… meaning Sayid wasn’t really dead…

My Word, the entire episode was frickin spectacular!

  • Colleen (author) said:

Maybe, but not fully. That would also explain why he may not have recognized Juliet, Sawyer & co. from his Dharma years. He may have known “things” about it but he came back different, changed. Similar to how Man in Locke has some Locke memories.

  • cindy said:

I wonder what’s with the hourglass when people get dunked in the temple. Do people who are less injured need less time? How does anyone (ie the powers that be) know when the dunkee is done?

  • Marc Vibbert said:

Would a bomb make the island go underwater? I still don’t understand why it was underwater at the beginning, also did Jack remember the alt. reality when he woke up on the plane?

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

Even though I wrote that whole diatribe on why I think Sayid is Locke, I would be completely OK and not surprised if he’s Jacob.

  • Ellie said:

So when Ben was taken to the temple, they said things might drastically change or something to that effect. And they said with Sayid that there are great risks…is one of the risks that he comes back as not the same person?

  • Anthony in Tennessee said:

Wow!!! I loved the first two episodes! I’ll have to go back and rewatch them again.

just a few questions, could the alternate timeline actually have taken place between the time the bomb went off and the time that the losties woke up back in 2007? or could it be happening at the same time? Is Sayid really alive or is that someone else? And it looks like Locke is realy dead or they could just be pulling one over on us. I have a wierd feeling that maybe we might see locke again in the 2007 timeline. I could be wrong though.
It was good to see jacob again. I liked how we now see why Hurley needed to be back on the island. well thats all for now too much to process. I can’t wait until next week.

  • carol said:

Wow, Wow,Wow!! Chris in Boston, you are a genius. I never saw that coming, I thought of one or the other and never figured both would happen. Just saw the news in Boston and Darlton was on and they said this year instead of flash forwards and backwards there is “flash sideways”. Cool concept.

Loved the episode. I kept hoping that Juliet would live and that the V delay was a way to somehow keep her on the show. Thank God Sayid isn’t dead. Though I think he is Jacob now and that is why Hurley had to bring him to the fountain and why the fountain looked like blood instead of clear water.

Locke turning into Smokey, one of the best Lost moments ever.

So many things to discuss and think about, I am going to have to watch this again.

One last note, man of science Jack was actually comforted by man of faith Locke. I think the moment when Locke talks about his dad was very touching and it shows that Jack has actually changed to consider the faith side of things.

One last note, thanks a lot Darlton, you answered some questions but now we have another whole list of questions to figure out. It’s gonna be fun!

  • Angela said:

Love that the ash circles came back! Was Bram carrying a vial of it just in case?

Also - did anyone else notice the light/dark part with Flocke near the end while he was talking to Ben?
And that the spring didn’t work? The Asian leader man cut his hand to test it but it didn’t look like it healed (though Sayid came back to life)

By the way, still frustrated that we don’t know Flocke’s name yet.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Cindy - I think it takes 6 or 7 minutes without oxygen to drown someone to the point of brain damage/no return. That *could* be what the hour glass is for?

  • Colleen (author) said:

Marc - I took the Island under water to mean that it symbolize the reality that they were in when we first started: One where Jack succeeded in blowing it up and it sank to the bottom of the ocean like the Lost Colony of Atlantis. I think it was all about the symbolism to help us understand the two realities. In the one where they get off the plane, the Island just plain does not exist as an island.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

colleen…the hour glass……is the amount of time it takes Jacob to attempt to take over Sayid’s body….maybe?

  • carol said:

Was the piece of cloth that Smokey/Locke cut at the beginning, the same piece of cloth that was found in the cabin by Alana?

  • cindy said:

I think the writers were alluding to baptism a lot this episode (the dip in the temple, island under water). Wonder where that’ll go…

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

If Man in Black was in the Cabin, and Man in Black = Smoky, then the ash line had to be broken before the Losties got there since Smoky attacked them in the cockpit of the plane.

  • Alirio said:

Anyone else notice how what was written on Dominic’s hand at Comic Con was his first line of dialogue????
    “Am I alive?”

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

    Good catch Alirio.

  • cindy said:

    @ Colleen

If I remember right, I think brain damage starts after 4 minutes without oxygen, but it takes a while longer for brain function to stop.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Alirio - GENUIS!! I tried to text that to Jay just now but I think they started recording already :( but I really hope he looks at his phone, because I love that observation!

  • Becky said:

    @Boston & @Matt I agree —> Sayid is Jacob.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Okay so here’s a question for the masses - What do you think happened to Desmond on the plane? Was he there or was he part of Jack’s subconscious remembering the “other reality” with the Island?

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

@Colleen based on him appearing and disappearing seemingly out of nowhere, I gotta agree w/ you. And I think the rest of our Losties will have similar visions of either Desmond, the Others, Dharma people, and/or Danielle.

  • cindy said:

If the bomb “re-set time”, how could someone who was already on the island and therefore not on on the plane in Sydney end up on the plain in the alternate timeline?

  • cindy said:

I’m waiting for the “course correction” to happen; it seems like the characters in the alternate timeline are headed toward where they were supposed to be, just like how the man in the red shoes was, one way or another, supposed to die. Remember Charlie’s “death wish”?

  • cindy said:

Hey - Ryan and Jen on Nightline!

  • Alirio said:

I think Desmond may have actually been on the plane.

    Here’s my theory:

Although there is an alternate reality, there are minute changes from the “everything as would be if the plane hadn’t crashed” theory.

Hurley: I’m the luckiest guy alive

Boon: Shannon isn’t on the plane with him

    Charlie: Tries to kill himself

And from Comic Con we know that Kate accidentally killed her step-dad’s co-worker.

I think the explosion created an alternate timeline beginning in 1977.

That’s why there are little things that are different.

  • carol said:

Desmond is “special” and seemed to know exactly what was going on with Jack. I think he was there.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Alirio - you’re right about it starting from 1977; I guess we’re supposed to believe that the bomb didn’t blow up in the past, so whatever happened DIDN’T happen after all. Two realities running parallel. Trippy. Need a beer or something now.

  • carol said:

@Colleen - with Jack traveling all day and having jet lag, is he going to have a difficult time doing the podcast tonight? Did you watch it with Jay or is he at Jack’s?

It was tough watching it alone, I couldn’t wait to come here and see what everybody thought. I wish my husband would watch Lost.

  • Colleen (author) said:

I watched the podcast here with Zoe the kitty & Jay went out in the cold to watch/record with Jack. Jay has school 2 hrs away from 8am - 5pm every Tues/Thurs, so his situation for recording is going to be lousy for a little bit but he got a good hour long nap at least in before so I know he’s all set for tonight and Jack’s a pro at not sleeping a lot so I know he’s okay too. I’m glad that we have the Internet to help with the viewing pleasure. Also, I still text some college friends who I used to watch Lost with back in the day before I knew Jay.

    theory: sayid is NOT jacob

When Juliet died, she saw the other timeline and knew the plan worked…. thats what happened to Sayid, except he got to come back.

So now Sayid is going to start the plan to merge the two timelines because he’s seen them both.

aaaand…. All the ghosts Hurley’s been seeing this whole time are visions from the other timeline, making sure that Hurley went back.

    LOST S06E01 = Holy Sh@t

    LOST S06E02 = Holy F@cking Shit!!

Haven’t read all 341 comments, just some things:
    1) Where’s Juliet in the “we made it to LAX” world? Miami somewhere married to Zelko?
    2) Did Greg Grunberg voice Seth Norris?
    3) Will we have to rewatch all 5 seasons again to get another perspective on Smokey?
    4) Is THAT why John didn’t get killed by Smokey?
    5) Before Adawale quit, what would have things meant when Smokey didn’t kill him?
    6) Don’t want to bring BSG into this, but has all of this happened before? The “Red Others” seemed to have things down to a T when they found out Jacob was dead.
    7) DWG/UnLocke has only “seen” Richard when he was clapped in irons. Was Richard a slave on the Black Rock?
    8) Where is Christian Sheperd in both worlds?
    9) Should I stop all theorizing and speculating and just enjoy the drinking from the firehose that Season 6 has been so far and shows no signs of stopping?

  • ManilaRaf said:

One more thought while I was reposting at The Transmission.

Is Sayid the new Ben? Cuz we all know what happened the last time someone with a gunshot would got carried into the Temple.

  • ManilaRaf said:

More thoughts after hanging out in a LOST chat. Some of these aren’t mine but came up in chat.

-If the numbers aren’t bad/bad luck why would Hurley have them since their being bad is why he got them form Leonard in the first place.
-If the island is underwater or was “moved” there in 197x, how could there be a tower broadcasting the numbers in 1988 for Sam Toomey & Leonard to hear them and eventually getting to Hurley
-Screencaps show that WAS the Dharma-logoed shark in the underwater island shot
-Was Charlie choking on the Heroin in a rear lavatory vs a forward lavatory in the Pilot?
-So where does this leave Inman? Desmond never being on the island means he’s alive? Or did he never make it on-island?
-Funny how Jack actually needed a pen this time (vs Boone suggesting it and jack not taking him seriously in the Pilot)
-The Temple Spring. Does it just heal the injured (Ben)? Or can it reanimate the dead (Sayid)? Is that why Christian and Claire are walking around?
-Or are “Claire” and “Christian” corporeal forms of the Man In Black, them being in “Jacob’s Cabin” where MIB was imprisoned behind a salt line?

  • ManilaRaf said:

    Okay, one more thing.

The “never crashed-made it to LAX” timeline is 2004.
The Ajira-Crash/back from the 70s group are both in 2007. (Note the fireworks)

Will the two timelines meet? Or what happens in the LAX 2007?

(This & my last cross posted in The Transmission, again)

  • Jeff in Texas said:

@ManilaRaf-good catch on the timeline between the two realities. I didn’t even think about the fact that on the island they are 3 years ahead of the safe landing reality. So I wonder if we’re going to get a time jump off island to catch them up with the island reality. Maybe during that 3 years, things will happen which will cause the two to come together. Are Darlton really going to be able to wrap all this up by May 23??

  • sitakatherine said:

I really liked the premiere except for 1 thing. I felt that there was no reason to have Juliet die. We all assumed she was dead after blowing up the bomb, why not just leave it at that. It just got my hopes up and then dashed them again. If they needed her to tell Sawyer that the bomb worked, she could have still told Miles and then there would be confirmation that she died. It really bothered me.

Also, glad to see that Colleen also thought that Juliet was going to tell Sawyer that she was pregnant. Watching The Incident last year (and again Sunday night), I was struck by a feeling that she was pregnant, especially in the scene at Rose & Bernard’s cabin when he offered her a cup of tea. I’m still convinced that they were trying to tell us she was preggers, but I’m not sure what the point would be since she died.

Anyway, that’s just my two cents. Also loved reading all the comments from everyone else, it really makes watching Lost much more enjoyable!

  • Robin said:

I am convinced that the Others temple leader is actually Shang Tsung and we will see Mortal Kombat between Jack and Sawyer. #crackpottheory

  • ManilaRaf said:

Just recalled a detail from that LOST chat last night.

We’ve seen an ankh before on the show. Paul (Amy’s husband; Amy who would go onto marry Horace) was wearing an ankh necklace. The same Paul whose body was given to the Hostiles in the 1970s.

  • James said:

Ok I havem’t read the other 400posts, so if someone else has said the same I apologise. But: I have a theory about Juliet.

Ever since Des turned the failsafe in season2 we have heard talk of how he “detonated the electromagnetic anomaly” and this sent Desmonds consciousness into the whole Flashes Before Your Eyes timetravel clusterfuck.

NOW Juliet detonated the anomaly instead by using the bomb, and HER consciousness is moving, from this scene where she’s making the date back and forth to the scene with Sawyer in the hatch wreckage.

What if all along its not being TIME TRAVEL we saw in FBYE but INTERDIMENSIONAL TRAVEL, and Desmond went into the alternate reality, and this time its Juliet doing so.

Later in the season I GUARENTEE we will see the other half of that scene, with Juliet making a date with someone in the alternate reality.

This is how Juliet knows BEFORE she died that the bomb worked because she was experiencing both realities in the final moments of her life.

    * I predicted that someone would be resurrected this season. I was thinking Locke or Jacob, but hell, I’ll take Sayid!

    * I don’t think Richard was a slave. I don’t mean to be racist, but didn’t anyone notice his skin color is white? I’m not from the 1800’s, but I think slaves were exclusively black back then.

    * I don’t think that MIB is Man in Locke. I think he’s man mirroring Locke’s image. If he were *in* him, then his body wouldn’t still be lying on the beach. The question is, why is he posing as Locke? Did Eloise Hawking set this up for him?

    * Who is with me in that the Temple people is actually the most shocking revelation of the premiere? WOW! There’s a S-load of more people living on the island! An alternate timline was predicted by many, but NO ONE saw this coming!

    * That was Greg Grunberg voicing Seth Norris. Didn’t sound a lick like him, but I caught his name in the credits.

    * Haven’t listened to all of the Lost Podcast yet, but I’m in the middle of the recap. I’ll get it done soon enough.

    * Damon and Carlton were on the local ABC news last night, as well as something about Lost on Dateline. Haven’t watched yet, but I DVR’d both.

    * Did Jacob touch the Losties on the shoulder in the alternate timeline, or the real one? Certainly he gave Hurley the guitar in the primary timeline, but for all of the others, it seems it could have gone either way.

    * I think Desmond was actually on the plane. If the hatch never existed, the button wouldn’t have ever been created. And if the island is at the bottom of the ocean, Desmond would have never ended up there either. So is this where he was supposed to end up? Are we going to cross paths with a never-seen-the-island-previously version of Ben and some others as well? It seems all these characters meeting up seems to be there destiny.

    * Does anyone else LOVE this version of John Locke? (I mean the wheelchair-ridden LAX version). Wow. Even though the change is incredibly subtle, this guy is so much more likable and lovable than the season 1 Locke. I can’t wait to see how this pans out. Give Terry O’Quinn the Emmy right now. Don’t even announce nominees because that would be simply delaying the inevitable. He’s essentially playing 2 new characters right now, both masterfully I might add.

    * Maybe the most thought-provoking question I’ve read thus far, authored by yours truly: Why was Claire on the airplane? (Assuming she was on it. Was she? I honestly don’t remember seeing her until the cab ride.) If the island didn’t exist, the psychic wouldn’t have told her to get on that plane. Unless in this version, there really is a great family in LA to adopt Aaron.

I’ve got a lot of Lost stuff rattling in my head right now. I’m going to take a breather and get the rest of it out later.

You know, I kinda just realized that when Locke saw the white smoke monster back in Season 1 or whatever it was, it was probably scanning him and realized at that moment that he was the most worthy of having his body used as a conduit. I don’t know why I just figured it out but I guess that’s why the Smoke Monster always judged people.

    YES!
and as soon as Eko stopped feeling guilty, Smokey realized it couldn’t use that guilt manipulate him and decided to take him out

my big question is who was in the cabin that whole time, Jacob or Smokey?
I’m leaning towards Smokey now, but where was Jacob that whole time?

was the ring of ash meant to keep Jacob in or to keep Smokey out?

More thoughts as Jay & I are watching this again with Clif right now.

    1. Sun says she doesn’t speak English because it works into her plan that she wants to leave Jin.
    2. I love how Flash-Sideways Jack tells Locke “Nothing’s irreversible” while Man in Locke-Locke tells Ben that old Locke was basically a hopeless case who was “irreparably broken.”
    3. Man in Locke-Locke says “I didn’t make you do anything” which goes with the “free-will” theory that MIB had in the opening season of “The Incident.”
    4. They lost Christian Shephard’s body and they didn’t just lose it like they lost Jay’s luggage coming back from Hawaii lol - they LOST it lost it. It’s almost like Christian’s body disappeared a la the original Losties or Oceanic 6 on the Aljira 316 flight…You know what they say: “You can keep the Shephards off the Island, but you can’t keep Island off those Shephards…”

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

    Just rewatched for a 3rd time…

Near the end, the translator other wanted Jack to come and talk privately, but didn’t say why. Could it be they want to tell him about Christian? And whose side is Christian on anyways?

Re: Sun not speaking English. This is sort of crackpot-ish, but its entirely possible that she doesn’t speak English in that timeline. Shannon stayed in Sydney and Locke seemingly went on his walkabout, so maybe Sun never learned English.

Expanding on Colleen’s “Free-Will”, Ben always used that defense. Especially notable in my head right now is when he had Sayid kill all those people. After he killed Andropov, didn’t Ben say something along the lines of “I never made you kill anyone”?

@Colleen: Regarding your point #3. When I was watching the episode for the first time, I thought of how Ben was always the manipulator in the past where he’d always get people to do things. Funny how he’s now on the other end. He killed Jacob after being manipulated by ManInLocke.

  • Matt (darry2385) said:

Wow. So maybe Desmond was real and he didn’t have to go on his round the world trip to prove himself to Widmore. After all, the Island is on the bottom of the ocean in that 2004. So did blowing up the bomb sink the island in that timeline? If so, Widmore is presumably dead, so Penny would had to have been concieved by 1977. We don’t know when she was born, do we?

  • Dawn in Denver said:

So - last season, Ben released the smoke monster by opening a drain under a pool of dirty water. Now, the clear water in the temple is dirty. Could there be a connection? Is Smokey now in Sayid?

So I just finished watching Jay & Jack’s interview wtih Jorge and something they said got me thinking. They were talking about Michael and Walt and whether Walt would be in any of the episodes and how they would make that work.

We didn’t see Michael on the plane in this episode. They’ve already shown that things have changed this time around (Shannon deciding to stay in Australia, Locke more accepting of his circumstances, Hurley is lucky, and I’m sure others we haven’t seen yet). What if in this timeline/reality Michael either is still with Walt’s mom and/or has a steady job and so he didn’t ever go to Australia to get Walt. That would allow them to not have to explain why Walt looks so different. This is my crackpot theory but I’m not going to say I’m sticking with it yet because we know that Harold Perrineau is/has been filming scenes, right? Which means somehow Michael is involved…but is it in landing reality or island reality?

  • Jessica aka jlyn said:

Jeff I was thinking the same thing. That way since we are in 2007 we could still see older taller Walt. And with the timeline on the island we can still see older taller Walt, maybe Hurley will go visit him. Since Hurley can see dead people maybe he can give Walt a message from Michael.

Just watched, again, one more little nugget. When Kate was kicking Mars’ ass in the bathroom, she slammed his head into the counter. It gave him a gash in just about the same place his Halliburton case did when it fell out of the overhead bin on the original flight.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Now is the point in the week where I start thinking about nitpicky things that probably don’t require as much time put into them. So I was thinking about how Damon & Carlton said on Jimmy Kimmel that it’s important to note how Cindy gave Jack 2 little bottles of liquor in the Season 1 scene vs. the 1 extra bottle she gave him in the Flash Sideways. Maybe the Cindy is this reality knew that Jack wouldn’t need the extra shot to use for Kate to use to sterilize his cuts on the Island.

Which would mean that Sideways Cindy could also be aware that there’s a parallel going on. Is she an exception to “the rule”?

  • ManilaRaf said:

I went back and watched the scene when Cindy called for a Doctor.

She made the announcement over the PA. When she makes the announcement, Desmond is in the aisle seat reading and Jack is in the window seat.

Cindy comes back and turns out the call light when she’s standing in the aisle and asks Jack if he’s a doctor. Note where she’s standing. She’s in the aisle in line with the row that Jack is in.

Then we switch to a view where we’re looking forward/up the aisle towards Jack & Cindy. Note Cindy’s position again. She hasn’t moved. She’s still in the aisle with her hand touching the aisle side of the headrest of the aisle seat.

Someone is clearly sitting in that seat. The aisle seat of Jack’s row. Someone with long brown hair. That someone clearly sits up to allow Jack to get into the aisle and then that someone sits back down once Jack is in the aisle.

It has to be Desmond. Desmond did not “appear” to Jack only like his father has done. Desmond was corporeally present in the “LA X” version of Oceanic 815. He moved seats temporarily and after the incident with Charlie was over, moved back to his prior seat.

Bottom line. Desmond was truly present on the flash-sideways 815. He wasn’t included in the shot where Cindy turned off the call light, but he was definitely on flash-sideways 815.

The whispers - any definitive theory for them yet?

The scene in the temple with the plants (why have plants inside when there is a jungle outside?) reminded me of Locke’s time on the Pot Farm.

Were Rousseau’s crew all “baptized” in the temple and taken over? Was this their sickness?

Plus the Temple set reminds me of Survivor China.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Raf - that’s a really good observation. I’ll have to go back and watch it in the morning when I don’t have tired-eyes lol. Will report back then! Anyone else check this out?

  • ManilaRaf said:

    Colleen,

You deserve some credit for my making that observation. I went back and watched all scenes with Cindy on the plane when I came upon that scene and noted Desmond sitting up to let Jack into the aisle. I only noticed because your comment had me focusing so much on Cindy that I just happened upon Desmondo.

  • Kevin in ABQ said:

Colleen, let me build on that point. I don’t think Cindy is the only one. Desmond (with Jack noticing his ‘disappearance’ from 815) is another strong candidate. After all, someone affiliated with Dharma stateside would have to be aware of the loss of the Island, and would bury resources into identifying those who may have been involved.

And the thing on Jack’s neck - looked like part of a red star tattoo to me.

Since Widmore was on the Island at the time that the bomb was detonated, what does this mean for Sideways Penny? She had to have been born before 1979 but if Widmore wasn’t a part of her life past that year, is she different? Did she even ever meet Desmond?

  • Cucumber Jones said:

I agree that Desmond is really on the plane. I didn’t notice him in the seat as you did, though. Great observation.

As for Cindy bringing one bottle instead of two, that is a great theory Colleen; you may be on to something here. Personally, I’m not going to believe that any of these Sideways characters are experiencing a deja-vu or anything like it until we see for sure that they are, but something is clearly going on. Even if Cindy is unaware of the other reality, she only gave him one bottle for a reason. And I think it goes along with the whole fate, destiny, and un-coincidental theme the writers have been showing us since season 1. Maybe she gave him 2 bottles in season 1 because, although she did not know it, he would eventually need that second bottle.

If it is the bomb that blew up the island, then in this Flash-Sideways, many characters that we were familiarized with in season 5 from the 70’s are dead. Jacob, Ben, Richard, Widmore, Eloise, etc. That really makes me wonder where they’re going with this. It also makes me think that this alternate reality is going to be done with in just a couple more episodes (I’d give it ~4 more).

    Crazy crackpot theory:

Man In Locke was once bannished from the island (hence his desire to come/go home).

    How about this:
Man In Locke was bannished by being tossed into the island’s volcano (referenced in Man behind the Curtain in the Dharma classroom)”Joe vs. The Volcano” style. The sacrifice causes a huge catastrophic eruption that throws flying firey pieces of earth across the island, which totally dessimates the statue, reducing it a four-toed effigy. His existence as smokey, is a product of him being thrown to his firey burning demise.

my brain is puking lost right now.

  • carol said:

@Chris, in the last poster sold in “damon and carlton and a polar bear”

    http://nothingsforever.com/dcpb/final/

There are supposed to be two clues to this season, on the top right hand corner is that a volcano? Maybe you could be right. Seems a bit far fetched, but so is everything else about this show.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Now that whole burning pillar of black smoke from Season 1. That was entirely Danielle messing with our LOSTies?

Nothing to do with the Others/Hostiles or Man in Locke? That whole MIL as Smokey has me rethinking all that we’ve seen in prior Seasons.

Like when Ben was a kid. Was that vision of his mother actually MIL? That same episode was when he first ran into scraggily, pirate-looking Richard. Was Richard once a minion of MIL before he sided with Jacob?

    Damn I’m confused.

@ChrisInBoston: Continuing on the Joe versus the Volcano theme, years back I thought about there being a connection between LIbby giving Desmond the Elizabeth and what happened in J vs TV.

    @carol

There are supposed to be 2 clues in this poster? Says who? (I’m not doubting you, this is just the first I’ve ever heard of it–curious to know if that is true or not).

The reason I ask is, uhh, did anyone notice that there are two Sayids in it? Given what we saw in the end of LA X Pt. 2, I think that might be telling.

  • carol said:

TVGuide.com: We hear there are some little hints in the final poster. What should fans take away from viewing this?

Cuse: I think you should look in there and there will be a couple of clues to the final season that are embedded in that poster. It will make a lot of sense once you’ve actually seen a few episodes of the show.
Lindelof: You should look at the poster and think of the things you’ve seen on the show, and then whatever else is left, that’s a clue for Season 6.

  • James said:

As much as Sayid being Jacob wouldn’t surprise me, I think its MORE likely that JACK will get Jacob’s soul inside him at some point.

The whole way through the show its been Jack, Man of Science Vs John, Man of Faith. Now we know the ultimate battle throughout all of time or whater has been Jacob Vs Smokie, but neither can fight eachother directly and need proxies.

So now Smokie has Locke, Jacob’s soul at some point is going to possess Jack, I don’t know how, why or even when, but I do think its going to happen, so that when this great war for the Island we’ve been promised for a while comes along, with whoever lines up on either side, they’ll be lining up behind Jack or Locke

  • Alirio said:

Just finished recording an episode of a new Podcast a friend is hosting and talked LOST.

I came up with the following idea, and I REALLY hope this is what’s going to happen:

I’ve been thinking that what I would love to have happen is that once the final minute of LOST airs, we immediately feel the need to re-watch the entire series because something happens that changes the context and reality of all we have seen over the last six years. What I’ll call a “Fight Club moment”

    What if…

What if season six is all about course-correction. But not just the kind of course correction where our LA_X Losties make their way back to the island to meet up with our regulars.

LA_X is set in 2004. The current island time is 2007.

I believe that this season will not have our LA_X castaways meeting up with the island in 2007. I believe that what happens throughout this season will get our LA_X’ers to become the people we meet on the island right after the plane crash in 2004.

    Why do I think this?

    “Nothing is irreversible.”

Jack will fix Locke. And that’s the Locke we see wiggle his toes on the island that very first time. Somehow, some way the writers will make it so that it will turn out that our castaways had originally landed in LA all along!!!

The island didn’t fix Locke… Jack did!

I know it seems unfathomable, and I won’t bore you with the details, but if Fight Club can do it, why not LOST! Make us re-watch every episode and catch details that make it so clear the second time around?

    I hope this happens.

  • James said:

Alirio good sir I take my hat off to you. That wins not only Listener (or reader I guess) Theory of the Week but of the whole dang series IMO. I seriously think that that is one of the very best theories I’ve heard. That is brilliant.

  • ManilaRaf said:

But my question now in response is, what’s the significance of the 2007 Island events in relation to what’s going on in the 2004 LA X world?

And part of me already wants to rewatch lost if only to see all of Smokey’s appearances and put them in the context that it’s MIL/MIB.

Like, why did he attack Seth Norris? Was he expecting Frank Lapidus instead, with Bram/Elana saying that he was a “candidate”?

Can’t wait for this week’s episode. Am already watching Tabula Rasa and still have What Kate Did to go before Tuesday night.

  • Cucumber Jones said:

Alirio, that is the best theory I’ve ever heard in regards to this show. I don’t know if the writers are going that way or not, but even if they aren’t, that is an incredible idea! I love it.

The marshal is the dumbest detective ever. He should have had other marshals waiting at the gate for Kate. And than do the Hannibal Lector thing and just chain her up so Kate can not get away. And while in the bathroom, one other thing he should have known something was up when he didn’t hear any tinkling from the stall. That should have been his first indication that something was up.

I’ve got a few more “for the record” thoughts I want to get down before tonights episode.

    * What if Jin is the one who speaks English and is trying to run away? I don’t know why he’d want to do this in this scenario, but I think it’s possible.

    * I’m going to say Desmond is on the plane, even though no one else saw him. I’m still on the fence, but that’s the way I’m leaning. For what it’s worth, he was wearing a brown suit and the person seated next to Jack when Jack got up to save Charlie was wearing a gray suit. But my thoughts are that it could have been a stand in for the actor playing Desmond on that day, combined with a continuity error.

    * Is it just me, or do we still not know why there is a space between LA and X?

    * Last year, after the finale, I was convinced that Jacob was the “good” guy. But after this two-part premiere, I don’t think so. He seems to be painted as the bad guy actually.

The Temple people seemed very afraid of him. As if they were going to feel his wrath if they didn’t do as he instructed.

A few lines that Man In Locke delivered also have be believing this, such as, “I’m disappointed in all of you,” possibly meaning that he’s disappointed that they blindly followed Jacob and never noticed that he was indeed the bad guy. Also, he responded to Ben’s calling him a monster simply by stating, “there’s no need to resort to name calling.” It was primarily the delivery of his lines that led me to believe he’s the good guy. He seemed so sincere and caring. Hearing “Nice to finally see you out of those chains, Richard” the second time around, it seems as if he actually means it. I know he responds by knocking him out, but it could have been for his own good, ala the way Richard did that to Eloise back in the 70’s. Finally, “I want to go home” plants the seed that all he wants is to go back where he belongs, but Jacob was keeping him from doing so, much like Ben did to Juliet in season 3.

    * I say Sayid is not Jacob. I have no idea what, or who, he is, but it isn’t Jacob.

    * I just realized we finally had a speculative question answered: the four-toed statue was already destroyed in the 70’s, meaning that the problem with pregnancies on the island is likely coming from the detonation of the hydrogen bomb. Now, I suppose one could interpret the statue being decimated at the bottom of the ocean as the hydrogen bomb being responsible, but I say that if it was destroyed identically to the way it is in the original timeline, it must have been destroyed before the hydrogen bomb went off.
