Discuss: “Lost” Ep. 6.6 “Sundown”

2 March 2010 317 Comments

It’s time to share our questions, comments, and theories about this week’s episode of Lost, called “Sundown”.  We’re sensing a lot more about Sayid, Clairsseau, and the sickness.  And hopefully a lot more of whoever is in the Locke suit!

P.S. Check out the exclusive pictures we put up earlier today of Naveen Andrews on the Red Carpet for Sunset on the Beach.

Warning: This post WILL contain spoilers, so if you haven’t watched Lost yet, you will be spoiled!

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

What is so important about this baseball?

  • Will said:

    Good fight

  • Jenny V said:

We all knew it would take a samurai to best Sayid. Now what is up with that baseball??

  • Colleen (author) said:

Wait, what’s the significance of the baseball again? I’m drawing a blank.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

Best Lost Fight Scene to date.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Anyone hear Smokey-ish sounds in the background during the fight or was it just me?

  • susan said:

did it bother anyone else that they didn’t close the front door ehrn they went in the house?

  • Kelly Jo said:

    Sayid is a BAMFer

  • noelle said:

maybe the baseball contains all the souls from the island and that’s where the whispers come from….

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

I’m with ChrisinBoston on this…thats the best Lost fight scene…even better than Jack v. Sawyer

  • ManilaRaf said:

I say in this timeline, Dogen’s son was killed. Either on or off island and the baseball is his only remaining momento of his son.

  • Stefanie said:

    so what’s with the baseball.

did locke not cross the ash line b/c he can’t

what’s claire going to do… get the losties away from the temple…

    sooo good

  • CoryToday said:

I just came in to say that I now do not believe that The Smoke Monster/Man in Locke is the the same guy as the Man in Black. Just a crackpot theory.

  • Laura Baker said:

    Dont get the baseball thing..

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

Get ready…I get a feeling Claire is gonna take somebody out

  • Jenny V said:

Wouldn’t it be something if Dogen was involved in the drug trade…and the baseball was full of heroin…the whole story will have changed. haha

  • Colleen (author) said:

@CoryToday - I think that The Man in Black could have been just another “shell” for the Smoke Monster/MIL. Just another man whose body he decided to look like.

  • Juan said:

    Aren’t there 216 (108 x 2) stitches in a baseball?

  • Colleen (author) said:

@Jenny V - hahahahahaha, that would explain why he’s so protective of it

  • fawkes said:

I agree with @ManilaRaf…i think it was his sons

  • CoryToday said:

That could be so Colleen. Theres just something telling me that they aren’t one in the same. I could totally be wrong but Im gonna stick to it for now.

  • Juan said:

Sayid still seems to be a “killer,” as Ben said… or is he?

  • Jessica said:

wait, is this really his brother? Or just a friend? Because he did have a brother in the last Sayid-centric ep.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Jessica, he had the brother who was afraid to kill the chicken if memory serves me correctly

  • fawkes said:

    crazy woman alert!

  • ManilaRaf said:

    I WANT MY BABEEEEEEEYYYYYY!!!!

  • Jenny V said:

Haha you tell em, Claire! SPEAK ENGLISH!

  • noelle said:

    really? still no name

  • Jessica said:

Why is Sayid not happy to see Claire? I love that line…”we can’t find them”. Dogen: “Look harder”.

  • ManilaRaf said:

    OOooooh. Mystery Box.

  • fawkes said:

    “angry man”…that’s all we get

  • Will said:

Someone you know. Someone who has died.

  • fawkes said:

oh god, i see Sayid killing someone we like :(

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

Why is Sayid the only one on this show that is capable of killing someone? Why does no one else have the guts to handle their own business?

  • ManilaRaf said:

    Is that a Roman Gladius?

  • Colleen (author) said:

Or someone we like killing Sayid…

  • noelle said:

so then the man in black we saw was just some guy jacob used to know??

  • zgk said:

This is by far the best episode of LOST I’ve seen!! Possibly ever. Every Sayid episode is sure to be a classic.

  • Brian said:

Apparently MIL can still take the form of dead people. Did Illana say that he was trapped in Locke’s body?

  • Stefanie said:

so what’s house of the rising sun?

  • ManilaRaf said:

That Bing commercial would have been way better if they had ninjas and not vampires.

  • Jessica said:

Good point Jeremy…since, as we all know EVERYONE knows how to use a gun on this island. :)

  • Stefanie said:

whoops I meant sundown… I guess we were fooled into thinking this would be about sun somehow….. sounds like someone is definitely going down tonight….

  • Colleen (author) said:

Brian, I *think* that she said he was trapped in Locke’s body but Sayid was on 316 so he knows that Locke or “Bentham” is dead

  • noelle said:

@stefanie the sun & jin episode from season 1

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Stefanie: Isn’t it a house down in New Orleans?

  • Kelly Jo said:

I think he’s going to have to kill Nadia. I mean she fits the criteria dead and someone he cares about

  • noelle said:

@colleen did sayid ever see the body though?

  • noelle said:

@kelly jo he said someone he knows not necessarily cares about

  • ManilaRaf said:

Oooooo. Nice ABC vs Cablevision commercial. Anyone else seeing this in Metro NY or elsewhere?

  • fawkes said:

SO dogen said MIL takes forms of someone who has died but its too late after he has talked to you…So does that mean he has already recruited Hurley, Kate, and Jack by impersonating other people in past episodes?

  • Juan said:

i’m sure mommy likes it when sayid is around…. hey-oh!

  • ManilaRaf said:

    HI JACK!

  • noelle said:

thought she was going to get hit by a car again!!

  • NaysWay said:

Don’t do it, man! Here’s your chance to be with Nadia! (Dang it, he’s going to do it, isn’t he?)

  • Will said:

    Claire vs Kate coming up

  • Kelly Jo said:

@Raf I saw the cablevision commercial too

  • ManilaRaf said:

Ouch! Let her down easy there Miles.

  • Colleen (author) said:

@Noelle - No, but didn’t he have a conversation with Jack or something over how Bentham had died?

Kelly Jo - if it’s not Locke, then the Nadia theory is a GREAT theory!!!

  • noelle said:

evie looks sexy in that shirt

  • Stefanie said:

oh man …. is claire gonna take kate out tonight???

  • Jessica said:

How did Sayid know that the person he was supposed to kill wasn’t Kate? Miles says Claire is still hot, lmao!

  • Will said:

    “Still hot, though” lol

  • Will M. said:

    Miles doesn’t remember claire???

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Raf I posted a Tweet about it earlier, check it out if you have ABC7
    Cablevision in NYC

  • Becky said:

Miles knows Claire from the days when they were holding him in New Otherton?

  • Juan said:

    wow, he did it!

  • Stefanie said:

oh he already talked… it’s over.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Crackpot Theory=Jacob dies, everything gets reset back to the beginning just like in the movie Jumanji.

  • Will said:

    Ugh. commercials

  • Jenny V said:

Hahaha I totally just started yelling at my TV. KILL HIM! KILL HIM!!

  • ManilaRaf said:

    “It’s only a flesh wound!

    Come on you pansy!”

  • NaysWay said:

Wasn’t he supposed to stab him BEFORE he spoke? Like… he wasn’t supposed to open his mouth? To say words? Nice job, Sayid.

  • fawkes said:

Did Dogen just try to make him leave the temple and knew Sayid couldnt kill Locke? OR WAS HE MENT TO KILL JACOB

  • Steven in DC said:

Damn! Jack, man of science; John, man of faith; Sayid, man of action.

  • gustariana said:

Why the significance of killing him before he spoke? gah this is killing me!

  • Colleen (author) said:

Evi always looks hot even when Kate’s at her most annoying. I didn’t know Miles even knew who Claire was but I suppose that when he was giving Ben that ultimatum for the $3.7 million or whatever it was is when Claire was at New Otherton and they could’ve come across each other there.

  • Kelly Jo said:

    Well that back fired

  • Stefanie said:

I think it would have worked if Locke didn’t talk first

  • RobMJ said:

You might be on to something there Jessica! I kinda have a theory the flash sideways aren’t parallel, they actually are after everything goes down this season.

  • Matt T said:

Man In Locke: Dude, Sayid, not cool!

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Colleen, Miles witnessed Claire walking off into the woods with Christian in season 4 finale. They were Sawyer.

  • Stefanie said:

oh man can’t believe it’s already 9:28… we’re half way over… that was fast.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Did Miles have a chance to see Claire at New Otherton considering he was locked up in the boat shed with the pineapple grenade in his mouth?

  • noelle said:

remember miles met claire after the explosion. thats why everyone thought she died cuz he looked at her all weird

  • ChrisInBoston said:

The baseball is actually “Mattingly”’s spirit wrapped up in an icon of his pasttime. The Hit man is the true leader of the island.

  • Colleen (author) said:

    Jlyn - OH YEAHHHH!!! DUH!

  • Stan said:

I don’t see how letting him speak mattered. Nothing magical about saying hello. I think Dogan doesn’t understand the rules.

  • Brian said:

Colleen, Miles was following Claire around until she walked off and Sawyer was acting like Claire’s big brother making him stay away

  • Will M. said:

Miles spent all that time with claire and sawyer right before she left with “her dad”

  • Brian said:

I am pretty sure Dogen knew Sayiid could not kill MIL, but MIL would kill Sayiid.

  • Steven in DC said:

    Dogan so set him up.

  • Stefanie said:

Locke is just a master manipulator….

  • ManilaRaf said:

I’m so very disappointed in you Sayid.

  • Brian said:

MIL is turning into a used car salesman….

  • Stefanie said:

you can have anything you wanted… now that sounds like devil talk

  • noelle said:

yeah he’s definitely starting to sound like satan. master of temptation, world at your feet, so on and so forth…

  • ManilaRaf said:

What if MIL is the power behind Ben’s “Magic Box”?

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Rose and Bernard. Nadia and Sayid are my favorite love stories.

  • NaysWay said:

MIL is good. Spooky good. I’m scurred.

  • Chris said:

    Sounds a lot like “There’s a box….” doesn’t it?

  • Stefanie said:

    are they gonna kill nadia

  • Will said:

i was thinking that too manila

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

    Nadia is so beautiful.

  • Chris Outside of Philly said:

    @Manila….

    Beat me to it…

  • Steven in DC said:

Dogan wanted Sayid to stab MIL before MIL had a chance to tell Sayid the truth. This was supposed to be an execution.

  • gustariana said:

Anyone that can offer you “anything you ever wanted” is dangerous…Sayid would do anything for seeing Nadia again.. the flash sideways prove it!

  • Jenny V said:

Am I the only one predicting all of Sayid’s cheesy lines tonight?

  • noelle said:

white shirt > black shirt (sayid)

  • Stefanie said:

    sundown!

  • Steven in DC said:

The “Others” are always afraid of the truth. There are always secrets.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Kate’s gonna get her ass kicked.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

    @RobMJ FTW. That is all.

  • Will said:

  • Stefanie said:

oh kate you are so dead!

  • NaysWay said:

Oh hell. Kate’s gonna get it.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Listen to those music cues people. Not good.

  • Chris Outside of Philly said:

    Cue Claire psycho switch….

  • Jessica said:

    Bad Kate, bad!

  • gustariana said:

I think Kate is pretty much a goner. Woot! haha

  • Becky said:

“He’s coming Kate! He’s coming and you can’t stop him!” Chills.

  • Jenny V said:

That guy that just picked Kate up got two hands full. You’d think they’d do another take. haha

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

I’m just not diggin this Claire as a psycho thing

  • NaysWay said:

@ManilaRaf - That music says that broad is toast.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

What the heck did Claire expect them to leave Aaron on a leave, and die? Evil Claire is bad.

  • noelle said:

@jenny v they probably did. he probably made a wrong move just so he could do it again ;D

  • Jessica said:

such finese when “easing” into the whole ‘I raised your son’ (extreme sarcasm there). Oh, Kate…tisk tisk

  • Will said:

I wouldn’t be upset if Kate died

  • noelle said:

@jessica she doesn’t remember walking away from him. someone implanted a memory in her head of the others stealing aaron

  • ManilaRaf said:

Naomi Campbell on the run and (wo)manhunt underway, News at 11. lol

  • fawkes said:

Claire is def gunna make MIL kill Kate first

  • Kelly Jo said:

I have a bad feeling about this

  • 5000 said:

    “Dogans run”

  • Steven in DC said:

The dingo ate the woman who stole my baby.

  • gustariana said:

@Will: You are not alone.. I wouldn’t miss her either.. there may even be some cheering when it happens. Love Evangeline Lilly. Not so much Kate the character.

  • Carmen said:

So where is Sawyer when MIB is meeting with Claire and now Sayid? Where did Jin go too?

  • Stefanie said:

what your people do now it’s up to them…. (free will?) or manipulation by MIL / Jacob.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Lennon’s going very Frogurt real fast.

    $10 says Lennon buys it.

  • ManilaRaf said:

  • Becky said:

    THERE’S Keamy.

  • NaysWay said:

This just goes to show that Sayid is bad ass no matter what reality he is in.

  • Timothy said:

    KILL HIM!

  • Jenny V said:

Once again. People underestimating Sayid. I wouldn’t have been surprised if Keamy had choked on his eggs. HA!

  • noelle said:

look at him shakin in his boots… KILL HIM!!!

  • Stefanie said:

love seeing kiemee ready to pee his pants

  • NaysWay said:

So, is the moral of the story that you can’t change? Once a killer, always a killer? Is that why the water stayed dark for Sayid, because he was beyond hope?

  • ChrisInBoston said:

just figured out the ending to lost.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Woo hoo, poor Keamy just can’t get a break. lol

  • ManilaRaf said:

One more in the head! Bet the basterd’s wearing body armour!

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Jin in a freezer, so where is Sun?

  • Stefanie said:

So there’s the Sun tie-in… I hope we get to see how Pike fits into all of this… always felt like they left that story line hanging (Sun taking over her father’s business)

  • Jana said:

Damn EVERYONE is in Sayid’s flash sideways!

  • Becky said:

Seeing Jin…. everyting is coming around…. in 1 circle.. WOW

  • ChrisInBoston said:

  • Stefanie said:

Oh I’m sooooo sad… only 10 min left

  • Stefanie said:

@ChrisInBoston how can you do that and not give us a hint at what you’re thinking?

  • susan said:

Keamy was not such a tough guy in this world . . . and he was the one who was supposed to get the watch!!

    my head is spinning

  • NaysWay said:

I’m more disappointed in the fact that Old Spice has a scent called “Swagger”. I can take the I’m On A Horse guy. But “Swagger”? Really?

  • noelle said:

that was a nice V tie in!!

  • ManilaRaf said:

YOu know, just slip a spoon in between the jar and the metal cap, pull slightly to let air in and presto, pickle jar opens easily.

  • Jenny V said:

    OH DAMN!

  • Will said:

    Damn, Sayid.

  • Stefanie said:

O.K. so Doegan had a son… but wasn’t that the same timeframe in which jack had a son… but jack on the island doesn’t know he has a son… so did doegan get to the island later than the losties…

  • NaysWay said:

And again… DID. NOT. SEE. IT. COMING.

  • noelle said:

    here we go….

  • ManilaRaf said:

  • Timothy said:

    SMOKE MONSTER!!!

  • gustariana said:

I knew Sayid would end up not redeeming himself. It’s in his nature…

I like how Kate and Miles are the only ones running away from Smokey

  • NaysWay said:

    Kate’s gonna die!!! OMG!!!!!

  • fawkes said:

ben should never go rescue anyone

  • ManilaRaf said:

Smoke Monster death or jump into the pit with Psycho Claire? Choose wisely.

  • 5000 said:

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

I know I’m the minority but I don’t want to see Kate die.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Boston, I noticed the peen shaped nature as well but wasn’t going to say anything lol

  • gustariana said:

OMG that’s creepy!!! Feral Claire and Sayid.. and Kate’s stuck with them!!!

  • gustariana said:

I don’t think I could have ever say this but I feel bad for Kate

  • fawkes said:

locke doesnt look happy to see Kate

  • Jessica said:

    makes my skin crawl!

  • NaysWay said:

I can’t tell… was MIL happy or pissed to see Kate?

  • Stefanie said:

so kate didn’t really choose to go with locke… she just got separated from everyone and would up with him by accident?

  • ManilaRaf said:

Are those people from the beach? Or were they people from inside the Temple?

    Where’d they come from?

  • Colleen (author) said:

    HOLY FREAKING CRAP!!

  • gustariana said:

    And THUD!!!

  • Digby said:

  • Timothy said:

    Darn, sorry Kate! You’re stuck!

  • Jenny V said:

    Where is Richard??

  • susan said:

that was the most disturbing episode of LOST ever!

  • Stefanie said:

at least they didn’t say there were going to be answers in the preview.

  • NaysWay said:

DID THEY JUST HONESTLY TELL US BEN IS GOING TO BITE IT?

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

  • Jessica said:

I don’t want Kate to die either.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

  • Kelly Jo said:

    Ben better not die.

  • gustariana said:

That last scene with Sayid and Claire walking out, with the voice of Claire singing was super creepy!

And wth? Ben’s a goner? and they are just going to tell us?

  • noelle said:

the lockeness monster looked more confused than anything when he saw kate. like the theory where she is the mystery piece on the board. she threw him off a bit. unfortunately, I think she’ll play a major role in what is to come

  • Steve said:

The war has started and Locke’s got an army of the damned! Watch out!

  • Digby said:

i didn’t realize kate was going to go with locke until i checked the lostpedia page for this ep, 5 minutes before she ended up with him… and the clue was there all along

how do alpert and illiana end up with him though?

  • Jersey Chris said:

I believe we’ve just witnessed THE MOST EVIL EPISODE YET!!! Seriously evil, guys.

  • Colleen (author) said:

It’s funny for me to watch Lost this season because when J&J were filming with Jorge, Beth was giving me little “spoilers” here and there, one of which was there was a big Smoke Monster attack scene early on in the season. All things that did not give away any of the plot whatsoever. I keep forgetting all but two things that she told me that we haven’t seen yet then going, “Ohhhh yeah!!” as they happen lol. I promise/swear that I don’t know anything that spoilers any plot points, though.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Damon and Carlton have been saying it since season 1.

That was a PHENOMENAL final 10 minutes!

First 45 minutes OK. Last 15 holy freaking crap.

I think that Kate is stuck with MIL and crew but I don’t believe that she will cross over to his side but rather play a huge role in bringing him down

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Did Cindy and the kids die or did they leave? I can’t remember if they did stay.

  • noelle said:

    they’ve been saying what??

  • Chris from RI said:

Jumping on late here, but did anyone mention the pendant around Dogan’s neck? Looked like the Telescope that Jack used to smash the mirrors in the lighthouse. Thought that was interesting…

  • ManilaRaf said:

So now that the Temple’s clear, what does MIL do now?

I wonder if MIL’s people are the ones chasing Sawyer, Juliet, etc and shooting them from the other outrigger.

  • noelle said:

    cindy, etc. made it out

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

    @Noelle Zombies. lol

  • Stefanie said:

@ManilaRaf the temple isn’t clear… Illana and the gang are still hiding in there..

I am NOT looking forward to the death of Island Ben. HOWEVER. It’s going to be one heck of an episode, and I’m sure Ben is going to do some amazing things in the events leading up to his “demise”… the preview showed him on Boone Hill. Could he be making some sort of sacrifice to bring old Locke back?

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Chris from RI: Notice that the ash lines did nothing. Lennon said it was Dogen who was keeping MIL out. Wonder if the necklace is part of that.

  • Stan said:

Not my favorite episode. It seemed like it was a transitional show. Not much was revealed. A new minor character or two was killed and some characters reunited but that was it. It was over hyped. Not much better than the Kate episode.

  • Jana said:

So the zombie season will be this season instead of seven?

  • noelle said:

ahh got it. but @ stefanie that was a secret tunnel out. the same one jack and hurley took to the light house so they’ll probably meet up there next week

  • Stefanie said:

Why do we all think that Ben is who they were referring to? Did they say his name or just “the man that has brought so much death to everyone” could it be MIL? or someone we’re not thinking of?

  • Stefanie said:

    thanks @noelle — I need a friggin map of this place… I’d be a gonner… I would never know my way around.

  • ManilaRaf said:

I say Lennon & Dogen aren’t dead. They fell into the Resurrection Pool after all.

Well, maybe not Lennon. If that blade had any special power after all, maybe Lennon’s dead, but Dogen will still come back.

On a side note, I wonder how many drinks it’ll take to get Boston to spill his theory on how LOST ends.

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

I thought it was interesting that they had that scene with Sayid and Ben. Ben is basically the one that drove Sayid into becoming a killer a few seasons back. Ben is also the one that killed Jacob. The thing Sayid and Ben have in common is that they both made the pivotal moves in the game between Jacob & Locke.

  • Colleen (author) said:

I really, really hope that Island Ben doesn’t die. I will be very unhappy.

  • Michael said:

So Ben meets his “demise.” Any chance that he sacrifices himself to bring Jacob back? I highly doubt that Michael Emerson is gone, so maybe that would be a way to keep Ben, but as Jacob.

Then we have Ben vs. Locke again, and that would be awesome!

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

@ManilaRaf I’m not sure if it is Locke’s people shooting at Sawyer & Juliet on the outriggers but I hope thats a question that they don’t forget to answer

  • ManilaRaf said:

I’m happy I don’t have to take a ton of screencaps this week. :)

  • NaysWay said:

So where’s Jin? He was supposed to bring Crazy Claire back to the temple because he supposedly knew the “secret entrance”. But then Claire walked in alone. And I don’t remember him standing there while Claire and MIL were talking before she walked in… did I miss something?

  • John said:

I think that Dogan’s son is the boy that came to Sawyer and Man in Locke 2 weeks ago. Prolly already been said, but anywho.

  • Jeff said:

I guess Jin’s leg wasn’t quite good enough to walk yet. Sawyer was also notably absent from Locke’s raiding party. I wonder where smoky’s team camps out? The black rock?

  • Chris from RI said:

@ John didn’t we see Dogan’s son already when Jack was watching his son play the piano? I’m still thinking it is someone we haven’t seen yet

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

@NaysWay well maybe they had to leave Jin & Sawyer behind.

Jin’s leg was hurt and Sawyer was probably too wasted to make the trip

  • luckybrand1212 said:

@Chris from R.I. The telescope and necklace may reference “The Amber Spyglass”, the third and final novel in the “His Dark Materials series. Interesting paralells to Lost.

  • Chris from RI said:

Wow @ luckybrand1212. I just read some of the plots in that series on Wiki, and it does provide some very interesting Lost parallels. Nice catch.

Reminds me of the Scorpion and the Frog story …
    http://allaboutfrogs.org/stories/scorpion.html

No matter what the situation / time / etc. our characters can’t get away from what’s in their nature…. (the moral of the scorpion and the frog story)

“It’s in my nature” and nothing can keep them from being how they were meant to be…

    Sayid = Torturer / Killer
    Ben = Liar
Kate = Running away from everything
    Sawyer = Con man
Locke = scared / pathetic / “you can’t tell me what to do”
Jack = Angry - never good enough
    etc…

Honestly, not my favorite episode, but I agree the last 10 minutes were GREAT! When MIL told Sayid that he could give him anything he wanted (including bringing people back from the dead - not that we actually heard him say that but it was implied)I started to think that maybe all these flash sideways are the result of MIL getting people off the Island.I’m still waiting for the episode that clarifies (well in my mind anyways) who is good and who is bad. Even after this episode I’m still not convinced that MIL is bad. I used to think that Jacob was, but after last week I’m not convinced of that either. I guess right now I think both are good and both are bad in their own ways. It’s not about one over the other, but finding the balance within yourself.

Michael Emerson’s hardly been around this season, we need more Ben. Preferably on Island Ben. We’re two weeks away from the Richard episode! Yay! We know some questions will be answered in that one.

so, why would dogan tell that story about his son right before sending sayid to kill faux-locke? is faux-locke really jacob too? does dogan want him to die so that he can be free too? and why would dogan agree to sit in a temple forever just to get his son back? maybe he wants to “go home” too so that’s why he sent sayid? he knew he’d come back and kill him? and if he’s killed, he can be reunited with his son? maybe jin was right when he told sun in season one that they were all being punished. dogan is punished for the wreck that killed his son, and this is his only redemption.

also, it seems like the “flash sideways” so far shows the changed-for-the-good lives for some and pretty-much-the-same for others. maybe they’re the sides, too. good/evil…

which really means that it all seems a little too parallel to the myth of ur

@jayandjack Anyone bring up the fact there are 108 stitches on a baseball? Interesting. Wonder how many on a wet baseball. Sad face.

I’m kinda glad Dogen and Lennon are dead. Sorry, but…I rarely like the new guys.

And I don’t want them to rise again! Maybe only Candidates get that honor.

Really loved the episode. But then again, I love me some ass-kicking Sayid any day.

Was Keamy the business partner that Jin was meeting in LA? If so, why was Jin locked up, and how did they communicate if Jin didn’t speak English?

I think whoever sides with MiB on island stays troubled in the flash-sideways, but whoever sides with Jacob finds peace.

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

So is Dogen really dead? He drowned in that fountain of youth pool. Do you think Sayid did that on purpose? Maybe he knew that he really wouldn’t be killing Dogen

What the hell was Jin doing in that walk-in refrigerator?

I enjoyed how dark this episode was. The end was absolutely haunting, and Terry OQuin’s expression was just creepy and frightening. I’m guessing Ben will in some way have to stop Smocke from leaving and he’s going to once again do what is best for the island. I still don’t think Jacob is good but neither is Smocke, they both manipulate for their own gain.

  • James said:

I guarentee it right now: Ben ain’t gonna die. NOT A CHANCE. You don’t drop your biggest plot point - and Ben’s death would be the biggest plot moment this season so far bar none, in the preview. You just don’t. I don’t know how they get around it, but it HAS to be a fakeout

  • Cucumber Jones said:

MiL is promising that Sayid, Claire, Sawyer, etc can get what they want if they just follow him. What if he’s telling the truth? What if he can not only end all of this island madness, but go back and reset it to where the island is underwater and Jacob never interferes with their lives? In that regard, I think he would be considered a “good guy” even though he kills without regard. I don’t think he’s evil incarnate; I think that’s what Jacob wanted everyone to believe.

Everytime we see him speak, he seems honest, earnest, and forthright. He doesn’t lie or hold anything back. He’s quite blunt, and seems to have a subtle compassion or empathy element residing inside him. He’s obviously lied to Claire about Aaron, but that isn’t anything we *saw*. I’m not saying he is a good guy or that he is a caring person, however; I’m just saying that from what we’ve seen of him, he seems to be a pretty decent guy (apart from killing people as Smokey of course)

  • George said:

My theory on this whole thing harkens back to the Season 4 sneak peak with the Dr. Halliwax’s duplicated rabbit at Station 6. I think everyone on the island has been duplicated somehow after the explosion, and the Man in Locke wants people off the island so they they can see their duplicated selves. Apparently according to the Season 4 sneak preview, Halliwax says quite urgently, “don’t let them near each other!”

In this game, it is possible Man in Locke is out to destroy the world. And Jacob still believes there is hope for humanity.

I am thinking along those lines due to what Mrs. Hawking alluded to this when Desmond tried to buy an engagement ring for Penny. She told him he was to push the button to save the world, “it’ll be the only great thing you ever do.” Somehow, Desmond plays a key role in this scenario. I don’t know how, but that’s my theory.
