  • Will said:

    “Not yet”. I hate that

  • noelle said:

  • Stefanie said:

i bet richard came from another time period

  • NaysWay said:

Dammit, Jack! I’m going to need to you faith up real quick.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

TELL US RICHARD WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!!!!!!

    PULL THE TRIGGER

  • ManilaRaf said:

Ooooohhh…So is Frank also a candidate? What’s his connection to the Island?

  • mushand said:

    Did anyone count the crosses?

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

This can’t end well for Ben.

  • Timothy said:

    Don’t kill him!!!!!!!

  • Will said:

I liked that comment about stalling

  • NaysWay said:

I know he killed Jacob, and I know he’s a pretty lousy person, but please don’t kill Ben. C’mon, man. Let him stick it out until the end.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Okay so here’s the (so far) question of the day: If the Island still existed in the Sideways, then what did we see under water in the season premiere and WTF does it mean?!

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

Makin him dig his own grave….I think I’m in love with Ilana

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Ok as evil as Ben Linus is, he can’t die till the very last episode of Lost. I would miss Michael Emerson too much.

  • noelle said:

    the chosen

  • mushand said:

Was Ben’s name in the Lighthouse

  • Kelly Jo said:

    RICHARD!!!!!

  • noelle said:

there was a linus, it was crossed out though right?

  • mushand said:

I think the island is not there, we saw that in the beginning of the show. It’s like Alantis

  • Timothy said:

Yes, Benjamin Linus’ name was crossed out at the lighthouse.

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

@Colleen Perhaps in the sideways “the incident” still happened, and somehow roger and ben evacuated. Or Roger got sick and tired of being a work man and quit.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Colleen, the Island was underwater but we saw New Otherton, the playground, the Sonic Fence pylons, etc. So there had to have been a DHARMA on it at one time.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

“AT least he’s not stallin’” could be a paralell to “Stalin.” he led a revolution as well.

  • Jessica said:

Again…is this the “six”: Jack, Hugo, Sawyer, Kwan (?), Claire, and Kate?

  • Chris said:

Illana knows that John Locke is dead; however stated that there are now only 6 candidates left. Was she counting including someone else such as Kate?

  • Brian said:

Referring to the point of why it is morning, I imagine the walk from the temple to the beach is pretty long, plus isn’t time really screwed up on this island?

  • mushand said:

    813 :)

  • ChrisInBoston said:

how hot is she? i still can’t believe she’s bangin’ jeff goldblum

  • mushand said:

His he going to kill the princepal

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Boston Dude she’s been hot to me since I saw her in that Maroon 5 video.

  • Whodini said:

Looks like the incident isn’t what sank the island. I’m thinking we’re in for some more time travel before the end.

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Boston Who’s hotter, her or Dirty Claire?

  • Stefanie said:

    whose the nurse?

  • mushand said:

He is still trying to take over the world even if its a small world

  • Colleen (author) said:

So let’s see if Ben is a liar in the Sideways too

  • NaysWay said:

Good ole’ Ben. Still using people’s dirt against them.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

    couple of jabronies. hahahahaha

  • Whodini said:

Oh snap! Miles talked to Nikki and Paulo!

  • ManilaRaf said:

  • Colleen (author) said:

    Could the nurse be Juliet?

  • NaysWay said:

Kate has officially been replaced as the baddest chick on the island.

  • Fury5701 said:

    @Colleen

The Island existed in the sideways but it sunk.

  • noelle said:

    what??? dont believe jacob? wtf??

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

Richard can’t die! We haven’t had our Richard-centric episode yet

  • ChrisInBoston said:

I KNEW IT! HURLEY WAS NOT SEEING JACOB! HE WAS SEEING MIB!!!!! I CALLED THAT!

  • NaysWay said:

    WHHAAAAAATTTTT?! Eye liner can’t die!!!!

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

    Don’t be silly…you CAN’T die Richard

  • Will said:

Richard says not to trust Jacob. Richard wants to die. Wow!

  • Chris Outside of Philly said:

@ChrisinBoston.. perhaps he will age like Donovan in Last Crusade.. 400 years in seconds…

  • ODM said:

If he dies, his eyeliner is going to run!

  • Colleen (author) said:

I really think that Ben’s going to die and have Jacob inhabit his body so it’ll be Jacob/MIB as Ben/Locke.

  • NaysWay said:

@ChrisInBoston - Really? Why would MIB still need to shape shift? I mean, he’s pretty much killing everyone or bringing them to his side. Why not either kill Hurley and Jack or make them cross over to the dark side? Why spare them like this?

  • Stan said:

    Interesting: don’t believe Jacob

  • Stefanie said:

@chrisinboston good call Locke (MIB) appearing as jacbob… wonder if that’s the case. I just wish richard would explain already…

  • Becky(SportingBecky) said:

Is that the ship from last yr that Jacob and Man in Black saw from the shore when Jacob was eating fish?

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

Guess Richard finally got tired of being Jacob’s errand boy

  • Will said:

I think Hurley is really seeing Jacob. I think Richard just feels betrayed or something

  • ManilaRaf said:

Sooooo, with that commercial. Would anyone buy a Toyota now even with the no interest payments for 5 years?

  • Colleen (author) said:

@NaysWay - If MIB is shape shifting still, then it’s because he’s got some kind of end game to lure them somewhere else for the ultimate end game

  • mushand said:

Naw won’t run ODM its a tatoo, but I think we will see him as a slave

  • Will said:

    Becky: probably so

  • Jessica said:

Richard: “Don’t believe him”…going to die. School nurse, Juliet?

  • mushand said:

Colleen, I don’t think he is shifting I think he is stuck in that body for a while.

  • Nick said:

    And Nurse Juliet is debunked.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

MIB came ot hurley as Jacob in order to get him to bring sayid to the temple, to become his pawn.

he also got hurley to bring jack to the lighthouse…to destroy it.

    Jacob…was MiB to hurley

  • mushand said:

You got some Tree Crap on you!!!

  • Colleen (author) said:

He is a real killer, good job Arzt! You and that obvious really never miss a beat no matter what reality

  • noelle said:

but wait it couldnt be mib as jacob that hurleys seeing because he cant take another form because hes stuck as locke. and jin couldnt see him and neither could dogen

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

“Linus, you’re a real killer” - Arzt has no idea

  • Stefanie said:

I wish my hubby was into lost. He’s an assistant principal — now he would finally be able to relate… Lost is all about high school politics. Love it.

  • mushand said:

    Yeah Black Rock

  • NaysWay said:

Leslie has had more face time in the sideways world than he ever did on the island. Good for him.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

    Ben digs really nice graves.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Those are some really straight grave edges for just a bamboo trunk.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

er…MIB was jabob to hurley rather

  • mushand said:

Weren’t there bones in the Rock could those be “richards” bones

  • Becky(SportingBecky) said:

That professor just said to Ben in the lab that your a real killer… than Ben had a funny look on his face.. OMG.

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

FInally, Richard came on the Black Rock

  • ManilaRaf said:

    Is Richard gonna Arzt himself?

  • mushand said:

So many parallels with Season 1 and 6

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

    Oooooo so much on Alpert………..

  • Stefanie said:

that’s the loophole… can’t kill yourself… someone has to do that for you… remember Michael couldn’t kill himself?

  • ManilaRaf said:

Richard’s sounding a lot like Ben before he knifed Jacob.

  • noelle said:

richey looks psychotic in that light

  • mushand said:

    Richard is Doubting Thomas!!!!

  • Colleen (author) said:

Alpert plays a better “Through the Looking Glass” Jack than Jack did ;)

  • Stefanie said:

stick around richard… you may find purpose… just have faith…

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Jack couldn’t jump off the bridge because Jacob touched him.

  • Timothy said:

    RUN!!!

  • Stefanie said:

Didn’t jack take an oath “do no harm”

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

wtf is happening right now? Richard can’t die.

  • noelle said:

    ohhhh shitt here we goooooo

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

    DUDE!!!!!!!! Jack has major balls!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

    Jack is a badass again

  • Jessica said:

wait, Jacob touched Locke after he fell from that bldg. Does that mean he isn’t really dead?

  • Will said:

Get some freakin answers out of him

  • ODM said:

Let’s talk! Discuss amongst yourselves, I’m feeling verclempt. (sp)

  • noelle said:

    locke didnt commit suicide

  • Colleen (author) said:

@Stefani - GOOD CALL about Michael!! Duh! SO then why was it Christian who said “You can go now, Michael?” and finally let him die?

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

Did Jacob not touch Jack when he gave him the candy bar?

  • Will said:

Somebody else killed Locke, so he is dead?

  • Caoilfhiann said:

Sorry to butt in, but, Richard can’t die. He has to live to be the father of my children. LOL

  • ChrisInBoston said:

it won’t work. Jacob touched all 3 of em. Richard will live. Jack will live.

  • Fury5701 said:

Next week will be the Alpert flashback episode.

  • Stefanie said:

@jessica Locke is dead b/c he didn’t kill himself… Ben killed him

  • mushand said:

I don’t think Richard knows anything

  • Brian S. said:

Are we assuming that all of the Oceanic 6 can not die then?

  • mushand said:

    I think so Matt!

  • Colleen (author) said:

@Jessica - it means he couldn’t kill himself but Ben took are of that one for him quite nicely…

  • ManilaRaf said:

Jacob touched Locke. But Locke didn’t kill himself. Ben killed him.

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

Only candidates can kill other candidates…there i said it

  • Colleen (author) said:

    @Caoilfhiann - hahahaha I like your reasoning

  • Stefanie said:

I think Jack G’s theory of MIB and jacob being the same person is coming true…. MIB couldn’t kill jacob b/c MIB is Jacob so he had to find the loophole (get someone else to kill himself)… MIB/Jacob has the internal battle going on inside of him (good vs. evil) etc.

OK the show is coming back on gotta watch…

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

So it is fate, but the fate because someone else made it all happen. It’s not coincidence.

  • Will said:

    What is Flashforward? (joking)

  • noelle said:

so richard and hurley can die but because jack lit the fuse he won’t

  • Colleen (author) said:

Boston - they can die as soon as they aren’t committing suicide.

  • Jessica said:

Jacob touched Locke (after he was pushed out of the bldg), Kate (as a child when she tried to steal that lunch box), Jin and Sun (at their wedding)…has he phyically touched Jack, Sawyer and Hurley? I can’t clearly recall that. Even though he did meet with each of them. Oh, and he touched Sayid (when asking for directions which led to Nadia dying).

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Yeah the people buying new Toyotas in the commercial are the ones that needed ones because their brakes failed. lol

  • Will said:

Are Ben and Widmore candidates? They couldn’t kill each other.

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

“If you change your mind, I’ll be like a mile away” love Hurley

  • Stefanie said:

Does Jack know somethign we don’t… he doesn’t seem afraid to die

  • ManilaRaf said:

Hey, does this extend into MIL & Jacob talking on the beach? Is having someone else kill you the loophole?

  • mushand said:

Run CLUCKY RUN!!! Have a Boom Boom Boomie day

  • mushand said:

There is a southern gospel song called the Lighthouse?!?!

  • mushand said:

    JACK IN FAITH WTF

  • Colleen (author) said:

I love that Jack has become the Man of Faith. I can’t even tell you how much I love it.

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

Jack is smarter than he looks

  • Jessica said:

Oh…Jack, man of faith now. Wow.

  • Stefanie said:

Wow Jack is a man of faith now… huh?

  • Brian S. said:

    Jack…Man of Faith?

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

    Great line from Hurley.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

@coll exactly. that would have been like commiting suicide if it worked.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Maybe the Island isn’t done with Richard & Jack? Remember Michael couldn’t kill himself with the gun in that alley with Tom Friendly?

  • Stefanie said:

Here come da monster… get ready Ben….

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

Bad things are going to happen

  • Stefanie said:

so where are all of locke’s followers?

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Ha ha I literally jumped when MIL showed up behind Ben.

  • noelle said:

so ilana couldnt hear the ticka ticka??

  • Stefanie said:

I locke a con man or what?

  • ManilaRaf said:

Dude, did MIL just use the Force to free Ben from his shackles?

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Are we about to see who shot at Juliet, Sawyer, etc?????

  • noelle said:

its starting to seem more and more like theyre going to use magic to explain away some of our questions

  • Stefanie said:

“Don’t hesitate, she won’t” Is Ilana going to get killed?

  • Ellie said:

So can Richard die now that Jacob’s dead? Did Jacob have him “in chains” figuratively? And then were those real chains he was in?

  • Whodini said:

Can MIB not kill Ilana himself?

  • Stefanie said:

So in both universes Ben will do anything to be the leader b/c he cares the most.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Hee hee Ben is so evil, off and on island. But this time off island the principal deserves it.

  • Colleen (author) said:

I’m sorry if I’m missing something but who is the actor that’s playing the principal?

  • Matt in Syracuse said:

Ben is still a conniving monster

  • ChrisInBoston said:

5 bucks says there’s no rifle….MIB setting him up

  • ManilaRaf said:

Ben: And you’ll be saving the lives of millions of registered voters.

  • Stefanie said:

oh man Ben is gonna kill alex (figuratively) in the sideways too … no Yale recommendation…. don’t do it Ben.

  • NaysWay said:

He’s going to give Alex up. Again.

  • noelle said:

hes from ghostbusters right? didnt jay mention that last week?

  • James said:

She can’t see fake Locke can she? Cool. I think that the flash sideways are what happens after the island is sunk/destroyed. Just a theory.

  • mushand said:

Does he really care about Alex now?

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Colleen, he played Mr. Peck, the EPA guy who shut down the Ghostbusters in Ghostbusters.

  • noelle said:

hes from ghostbusters right? didnt jay mention that last week?

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Colleen, he played Mr. Peck, the EPA guy who shut down the Ghostbusters in Ghostbusters.

  • ChrisInBoston said:

    ok…. no bullets?

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

I want Smokey to come kill the principal…

  • Chris Outside of Philly said:

@Colleen… you should really not let Jay see that!!!

  • Will said:

    Coleen: William Atherton

  • Chris Outside of Philly said:

@Colleen… you should really not let Jay see that!!!
    @Raf.. AWESOME!!!

  • ChrisInBoston said:

    ben dies.

  • Jeremy in Mississippi said:

So is he gonna choose the school over Alex just like he chose the island

  • mushand said:

I wish there was an Emmy for ensamble cast, because everyone on this show deserves it. I’m tearing up over here. Finally Ben is feeling sorry for everything that he did. So Ben, and the Hydra group are against Jacob.

  • Colleen (author) said:

To expand on what Outside of Philly said, it’s very interesting the reactions of Ben and Richard as they deal with the “loss” of Jacob, who they put so much trust in. Not only is it SUCH a human thing to do, it’s also so Biblical…Last Supper photo, anyone?l

New crackpot theory… I think both timelines are happening at the same time and how the character acts in each timeline impacts the other… I.e. Ben did not blackmail the principal so he got redemption and Illana let him live on the island.

Another theory… Ben was always “one of the good guys” but when he was shot by Sayed as a kid and brought to the temple that’s what made the “darkness” grow inside him and it won out on the island — he led as an evil leader.

Whereas in the sideways the “light” one out and he let his “good” side win over his need for power.

Can you say Emmy? I actually teared up when Ben said “because he’s the only one that will have me.” These characters we’ve been watching for 5 years now have changed so much… I’ve never felt more attached to characters in a story, and that just shows how amazing a show LOST has been.

I also loved the shot at the end with Richard and Ben standing on either side of the group of friendly losties.

  • M.G. said:

    @Michael cuz ABC is stoopid

  • ManilaRaf said:

How many days would you say have past between Akira crashing and the present time on the island? Wasn’t Widmore there talking with Hawking in LA the night before?

He must’ve captained the sub straight to the island from there or something.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Eric, I totally agree with what you just said. “He’s the only one that will have me” broke my heart.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Or maybe he used Hawking & The Lamppost to figure out where the island would be at the present time and that’s how he knew what bearing/position to use and how he got there by sub.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Raf - I think that Widmore was using the Lamp Post station to figure out where it’d be, as well.

So if Jacob told Hurley he wanted to help Widmore get to the Island, then what does that mean?

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Boston I think I did. He’s one of the Russian soldiers in the area 51 warehouse scene right?

  • Matt T said:

Wow. Great episode. I think I’ve warmed up to the flash sideways. Michael Emerson was amazing as usual, and that stinger, awesome. I was giddy.

  • Jersey Chris said:

It is amazing that Ben experienced a remarkably similar dilemma in the flash sideways as on the island. This time he got it right. I’m glad Ben is FINALLY one of the “good guys”.
But, what does it mean?!?! WHY is Alex still a part of his life in this flash sideways? WHY???

  • Alison said:

Ok, can we now start the official Michael Emerson for an Emmy campaign ‘10?

Seriously amazing episode, though was a little insulted by them actually having to say Widmore’s name. DUH! Knew it was him! How the heck did he find it? Did Locke’s body have anything to do with it?

  • Madison_0218 said:

Okay, so this occured to me as Ilana was telling Sun that there were only six candidates left. It seems as though, one by one, the main players - candidates or not - are dying off. So, in the end, only one will be standing… the one who will protect the island. But for those who do die, perhaps they then go on to live their lives as seen in the flash sideways. And how they lived on the island, or who they sided with on the island, determines how their lives will play out. Ben is now repentant and sorry for all the hurt he’s caused. So, when he dies, he goes on to live life as shown in his flash sideways as a man who puts others before himself. In his flash sideways, he chose Alex’s happiness over power because engrained in his subconscious memory are his experiences on the island.

One more thing, we all think Kate’s flash sideways have taken her on the same path as she was on from her flash backs — that nothing has changed. But I’m thinking that she didn’t actually kill anybody and she is being wrongly accused. Afterall, she did ask Claire in the hospital, “would you believe me if I told you I was innocent?”

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Colleen I think this is where that bedroom scene between Ben & Widmore may play itself out, although now I’m not so sure how it’ll turn out now that Ben seems to have done some soul searching.

Jacob & MIL need both need someone to take their respective places on the island. MIL reached out to Ben, as did Jacob in the past. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Jacob’s done the same or “touched” Widmore in the past (TWSS).

I’m still trying to figure out if “The Rules” referred to in the bedroom scene are the same rules (and loophole) that exist between Jacob & MIL. MIL couldn’t kill Jacob. Ben couldn’t kill Widmore. I’m guessing we’ll see the story develop along those lines in the coming episodes.

  • Torourkeus said:

    Two (opposing) theories.

Adding to Jacob is MiL… Iliana said she wasn’t sure which of the Kwan’s, OR BOTH, she was supposed to suggest. Might they take over both roles? I dunno…

Concerning Rules and Loophole: Only Candidates (Former or Current) may kill other candidates, and they cannot kill themselves. This would explain Michael not being able to kill himself off island and Richard and Jack not being able to kill themselves. It would also be the final test for Sayid - if Sayid was still a candidate maybe he would have been able to kill MiL the same way that Ben was able to kill Jacob.

If this is true: Maybe MiL is just an old candidate who changed his mind a’la Richard - nix the suicidal tendencies.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

Interesting watching it again. Wondering if something happened on the island to cause Roger Linus to need oxygen. And how interesting that Ben again gassed his father, this time for good.

@Madison_0218 I’m totally with you on most of your theories.. I’ve thought the same thing myself.

@Torourkeus I’m liking the additional backup for the theory MIL is Jacob

So far Desmond is the only one who can travel between time periods… I agree with the folks that say he’s the key to bringing the timelines together

  • Joel in Pittsburgh said:

So Ben’s a good guy, for now. Richard definitely
came on the Black Rock. And sideways Ben and substitute
Locke work for “Principal Dickless” (can I say that on here?)
    I love this show.

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Torourkeus I generally agree with what you said about the rules & loophole. I’m just having trouble explaining how at the bedroom scene at the end of The Shape of Things to Come between Ben & Widmore, Widmore asks Ben if Ben came to kill him. And Ben responds, “We both know I can’t do that.”

If candidates can kill each other and die, but they can’t die by their own hand; why can’t Ben kill Widmore? Or is there another reason why Ben can’t kill him on the order of the the TNT fuse going out.

(Although that can be explained as Jack not being allowed to kill himself)

  • Stefanie said:

@ManilaRaf great point about the shape of things to come bedroom scene with Ben and Widmore (are they the same person)… no just kidding. Maybe the rules are different off island?

“What happens on the island stays on the island!”

  • Stefanie said:

    Help me with this list:

People who have tried to kill themselves but couldn’t

Michael (off island with a gun — If I remember correctly)
Richard (tonight in the black rock)

  • Stefanie said:

  • Chris from RI said:

I’m a little surprised MIL didn’t take Ben with him after he left the statue. He got Ben to kill Jacob, so I guess I would think MIL would use him for other things (like how he used Claire and Sayid).

Also, Ben had the choice to go with MIL or Llana. Both eventually welcomed him, but it was interesting that Ben chose Llana after she was just about to kill him. Maybe Ben thinks there is something fishy going on with MIL even though he helped Ben get free.

  • Colleen (author) said:

Okay, so let’s review what we learned tonight because I LOVE these types of episodes that give you important little nuggets to mull over forever:

-The Island existed in Sideways. However, technically if it did blow up when Jack blew it up then Ben would be dead bc he was on the Island and so was Roger Linus. This doesn’t make sense if you think that Jack supposedly blew up the Island in ‘77 or whatever
-That means that Jack didn’t…because we can account for Ben & Roger…so if Roger quit and left before, then…the Island either exists still in this time line but they didn’t go to it bc Desmond wasn’t on it to mess up pushing the button
-…Meaning the sideways have zero to do with the blast and what we saw under water is looking more like the Island’s post-current timeline destiny
    Also:
-Richard confirmed why both Jack and Michael couldn’t kill themselves and even why Locke couldn’t
-Jack became a Man of Faith, officially
-We know from a reliable source that they’re supposed to be Jacob
    -Jacob was bluffing with Ben
-Miles found the diamonds so Nikki & Paolo also serve a purpose for someone on that Island ;)

  • Joel in Pittsburgh said:

So did Dr. Linus’ heart grow three sizes tonight?
These flash sideways really do seem like ways for our Losties
to make amends and have a happy ending

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Colleen I saw a theory on a blog earlier this week saying that what we saw (the island underwater) is what we’ll see as the ending for LOST once everything is resolved. The Island sinking had zero to do with Jughead going off at the Swan construction site. The reason they flashed out of the 1970s back to 2007 was due to something that’ll occur in the series finale.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Regarding the diamonds and Miles finding them. I could have sworn I saw Sawyer thrown them in as free stones and not in the small bag. Did Miles really have time to sift through all that dirt?

I’ll have to go back and check if I’m right.

  • ManilaRaf said:

Yup, I was right. Sawyer poured out the diamonds into his hand and threw the loose stones onto Nikki. Right before the “8 hours ago” flashback took place. After that flash back, you can see the black bag on her leg, with the loose stones around her.

  • wafflemaster said:

Could jacob have been responsible for keeping MIL on the island,to protect the outside world.

  • Colleen (author) said:

@Raf - I would have shifted through all of that dirt for that much money worth in diamonds!

  • Chris from RI said:

Interesting @ ManilaRaf. Maybe the Island is completely fictitious and the ‘War’ mentioned by Widmore and Ben is in the characters minds?

We saw the flash backs of there lives and the flash forwards. The flash sideways seem to be the points where the characters try to make amends for what they had done previously. There actions and choices on the ‘Island’ seem to be correlate and eventually leads them to make better decisions in life and be more accepting of the way things are.

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Colleen True. Plus Nikki was still technically alive when that happened, so she could have told Miles where to sift. Haha.

  • ManilaRaf said:

@Colleen Do you think that was $3.2 million worth of diamonds?

  • ChrisInBoston said:

Wait…so what timeline is Widmore coming from???

  • Colleen (author) said:

Widmore is coming from the 2007 timeline

  • Chris from RI said:

Any understanding why MIL is going to the Hydra station with his people? The Ajira plane was my guess, but curious…

  • Colleen (author) said:

Chris from RI: He’s going to the Hydra because he’s the LOCKENESS MONSTER and he lives in the water. Boo-yah! GONG.

  • ManilaRaf said:

So if Locke’s people are going to the Hydra Station, assuming that they’ll be using outriggers, were they then the ones to be shooting at Sawyer, Juliet, et al before they flashed through time? They flashed into the future (2007) then. Explains why there’s already an Ajira Water bottle in the camp. (Anyone think of that Ajira water bottle when Ben found the Oceanic water bottle tonight?)

  • Dort said:

Miles–didn’t he tell Illana that he could only “read” dead people soon after there demise and had to have the body there? Nikki & Paulo had been dead for awhile [in fact before Miles was on the island] or maybe he did live there longer than just as a baby…so how did he know about the diamonds ??
Also, I think Faraday will show back up [on or off island--not sure] and he will have something to do with the final story of what happens to the island itself!

  • Sarah said:

@Colleen - If the blast didn’t have anything to do with the island being underwater, why did Juliet say “it worked”? Unless that had nothing at all to do with blasts and islands and she was just delirious and in major pain. Who knows? I’m still curious to see if the “we can go dutch” plays out with her and Sawyer in the very end.

@Sarah…that is a very good point. Maybe when she said “it worked” she was confused about what she was seeing because she saw her Sideways life but didn’t understand that it wasn’t a result of the bomb going off

My mom (also an avid fan), mentioned Locke as being dead in the physical form, but that he will be resurrected as the next Jacob since his body lay dead in the shadow of the statue… and we all know what lies in the shadow of the statue. So this could be a Locke vs. Locke showdown in the end? If anyone has mentioned this before, I apologize for re-theorizing.

Also, @ChrisInBoston - I’m really trying to see Jacob as MIB, but I thought Ilana said MIB was stuck in Locke’s form. Wouldn’t that mean he’s lost his shape shifting abilities? And you’d think he’d love nothing more than to have Jack and Hurley on his team (or, at the very least, kill them since they may be his biggest threat), so he would tell them to go to the temple… not run away from it. No?

  • Brian said:

Perhaps when Locke and his crew are going to Hydra island they will start shooting at some other boat like we saw when Sawyer and crew were time traveling

  • Colleen (author) said:

@NaysWay @Boston - I think that Richard was just really having a crisis of faith when he told Hurley not to trust what Jacob said. It was really Jacob, Richard was just feeling ‘lost’ (aren’t we all) now that he was gone and there was no obvious ultimate plan for him.

  • Jepoyako said:

I was really hoping someone on the beach would’ve given Ben a hug or hand shake.

  • Jessica aka jlyn1980 said:

I love the change in Ben. The old Ben would have shot Ilana and not said anything. The new Ben explained why he killed Jacob. Michael and Terry better get their Oscar speeches ready. They should share one.

  • Colleen (author) said:

I hope that they enter themselves in different races (Terry in Best Actor and Michael in Supporting or visa versa) so they can both win!

On a serious note, I keep thinking about the “It only ends once. Everything else is just progress” quote. WHAT only ends once? What’s the damn end game here?! The island sinking? Is that underwater shot from the premiere really a flash forwards of the finale?

  • James said:

All I can say is (and I havent seen the promo yet so I don’t know if that points one way or another) If next week is not a Richard episode, I will actually be a little angry. We NEED that backstory. We got so many little nuggets in this one, I feel like the big reveals are right around the corner. Like revealing Michael on the freighter and then having Meet Kevin Johnson the very next week.

  • James said:

*le sigh* well, ALMOST there I guess

  • James said:

    “Where will you go?
    To Locke.
    Why?
Because he’s the only one that’ll have me.”

Ben is a broken broken shadow of the man who served Kate breakfast in the season 3 premier. He’s gone from all-powerful to having nothing. Ben’s “demise” was his total and complete loss of anything resembling power once and for all.

So glad the sideways one got the redemption though.

And so glad he didn’t die. Because you know…that would suck.

The 2 episodes finishing with the 2 armies is fitting - but Locke has so many more people! And people not afraid to kill and maim too - if Locke can make every one of those people like Sayid and Claire, how can the 8 on the beach stand any sort of chance?! Especially when TeamLocke has a man who can’t be harmed by bullets and can turn into a gigantic pillar of smoke at will…. This is not a fair fight!

  • ManilaRaf said:

Regarding why they’re going to Hydra Island, the Ajira plane isn’t still airworthy is it?

  • Colleen (author) said:

    Question:

Christian Shephard. He’s always appeared to give messages to people and he’s the one who “released” Michael from not being able to die. We always hear “The Island isn’t finished with you yet.” Richard explained that because he was touched by Jacob, he wasn’t allowed to kill himself. This also means that you don’t necessarily have to be a candidate in order to have Jacob touch you. Michael couldn’t kill himself and it wasn’t until Christian appeared to tell him “You can go now” that he was “freed” of whatever purpose/destiny the Island had for him. He’s also the one who appeared to characters like Locke to tell them what to do and has played a big part in the revelations of other characters (ie: Jack when he was hallucinating him).

So what is Christian’s role? I know we’ve been wondering it for almost 6 seasons now, but I don’t think that he is MIB or Jacob. Maybe he’s the “messenger” or an ‘archangel’ of the Island?

  • Colleen (author) said:

Colleen, I’m going to have to disagree with you. As if that matters… none of us still have no clue what’s going on here, which is incredible considering theres, what, 10 hours left to a show in its 6th season?

But I think that Christian is MIL. Or was. I think MIL was given the gift of being able to appear as dead people on the island, and he could shift shapes all the way up until Jacob was killed. And I think he was given that gift at the price of being the protector of the island, a position he’s held for far too long. I think he was once a man that got caught in a predicament in which Jacob helped get him out of (similar to Dogen). But Jacob helping him get out of that situation required his servitude for as long as necessary, possibly eternity. He grew tired of Jacob and the hold he would place on people–the way he would control them like puppets. And he killed Jacob only to free himself and give freedom to all of the other people who Jacob had or would affect.
