So the evil Yankees are back in the World Series and the debate about large market dominance in baseball has fired up again. Living between NY and Philly I have seen both sides of the issue. Until the last 5 - 7 years, the Phillies pretended to be a small market franchise and of course the Yankees are the bully many people love to hate. Personally, I think this is one of the best, most competitive eras of baseball and that a salary cap would ruin the game like it has ruined the NBA and NHL. I would also argue that the NFL is not better because of the cap but the popularity of the sport itself overruns any detriment the cap may cause.…
By now, you’ve probably seen the Popular Mechanics article where Dr. James Allen, Wilbour Professor of Egyptology and Chair of Egyptology and Ancient Western Asian Studies at Brown University decoded the hieroglyphics on the new Lost season 6 poster. According to Dr. Allen, “The hieroglyphs spell out two Egyptian words, meaning ‘Who is the guide?’ or ‘Who is the leader?’”
So this week’s discussion is this: What interpretation do you have for that translation? Who do you think is the ‘guide’ or ‘leader’? Jacob? Not-Locke? Locke? Jack? Ben? Richard Alpert (we’ve been on Team Alpert-is-Really-Jacob since it first went around back in May 2009)? Let us know in the comments below. Let’s get some discussion going!

I have seen no reactions as of yet but I am sure that the right has already began to spin this as a sign of Obama’s weakness and that he is bending over backwards to be “European”. I do not agree with everything Obama has done on the peace and war fronts, especially his considering escalating Afghanistan, but he has…

U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy died late Tuesday night at age 77. He had been fighting a brain tumor. Kennedy was the brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert Kennedy. Plagued by scandal, controversy, and tragedy, Kenndey’s impressive political career spanned 50 years. Most recently, he was heavily advocating for the Senate to reform health care.
